I read somewhere that when young, a dwarf hamster and a mouse can live together

No..never mix species. Keep mice with mice, and hamsters with hamsters...plus, male mice are agressive.

As they age they get agressive especially towards other species. You can't even mix types of hamsters.
Ie Cambell's and winter Whites can't live together

Think of it as mixing a terrier with a squirrel, in the end, the squirrel is dead.

It's not a good idea at all, unless you want them to get injured or die... :undecided

i'm avoding is for them to have a tragic end

Okay, then that's why you should NOT have a mouse housed with a dwarf. It is not like a 50% chance they won't kill eachother, it's a 100% chance they WILL. So it is just setting one or both up for death, and as you said, you don't want that.

then why did they say that it's possable and that this person tried it themself?

That person's CARAZAY! Lol, I don't know....

People "brag" about stuff that they didn't even do (in other words, they are lying). I mean, you read this on the internet right?! EVERYONE lies on the internet. So, just don't believe them. And what are the benefits anyways? I mean, it's not even that great just to have a mouse live with a hamster....

I would not recommend putting two different breeds of rodents together in any situation. Mice are completly different than hamsters. Like someone else posted- you wouldn't stick a squirel in with a dog, and expect them to get along, right?

For starters, why would you -want- to? They can't breed together (so please don't try to attempt it!), they won't get along, they'll fight, they'll be hurt, and one will end up dying.

If "someoen" posted that they have done this, you really need to ask yourself a few things before believing it. First, do you personally know this person? Second, did you actually witness it happening? Third, would you risk the health & well being of your pets based on something a stranger told you would work, when multiple others are telling you it won't work?

Seperate cages equals pet love.

Okay, that has to be the stupidest question ever, just because they are rodents, doesn't mean they can be together. They are a totally different species. it's like putting and Eagle with a sparrow, just because they are both birds doesn't mean they can live together, the eagle would eat the sparrow and that's the same thing that would happen with a hamster and mouse. One of them would eat the other one.

There are some rodents such as a mouse and a hamster that have probably bonded and lived together peacefully, but this isn't good practise to do for anyone, it's wrong. One of them to get hurt or die. Avoid doing something like that at all costs, putting them together to kill or fight with each other is animal abuse and no better then cock(rooster) fights.

they are all rodents but that's like syaing pirahnas and guppies are both fish, why can't they cohabitate? simply because one will kill the other quite quickly. do not mix species.

At least you had the sense to ask before trying - well done - it may seem like a stupid question, but the stupid thing would have been to pair them up then ask why they were fighting.

Glad you are taking the advise not to pair up a mouse and a hamster.
