I am giving away a Syrian hamster because I no longer have time for him. Also he is growing and is becoming to small for his cage, and his wheel is a bit to small, which is why I need to give it to someone who has a big enough cage for him. If you are interested, please email me at kevinane60@hotmail.com

I have been trying to give him away for quite some time, so I need to give it away to someone who has a big enough cage for him, and is able to take care of him and love him, as I have no time for him anymore. Thanks

When you get a pet it should be for life, hopefully one of the members here will save him. Next time remember that when you get a ham or any other animal it is for life and make sure you have time for them, or don't get them in the first place. It's cruel and unfair to your ham, he loves you and you're just throwing him away, instead of taking responsibility and buying him a better cage and wheel. People like you shouldn't have pets, what you are doing is MEAN!

I can't promise I'll take him, but I'm in Toronto. Whats his temperament like? Is he shy, friendly, ect? How old is he? Why is he in such a small cage? Annnnd, do you have any pics? You can reply or email me at bruxnpaws@hotmail.com if you like. I have 4 syrians at the moment, since my beloved Smudge just died last week. :(

No need to be judgemental on cage sizes... i totally blame the pet stores for selling too small cages and at least this person recognises that the cage is too small and is doing the best they can to help the hammy!

If anything, thats what i find impressive.

Bin cages are really cheap, easy to make with a few spare minutes, and usually huge! Wal-mart will probably have large plastic storage bins, for about $10. Drill plenty of air holes in the top of that, and you have a ready made hamster cage! Of course the more you add the happier hammy will be, and you'll probably need to get a hanging water bottle so you can attach it to the bin. Just add plenty of toys and things to climb on, sine syrians really love to climb but its hard in a bin, but toys will do it.

This is the bin cage (it has a top, of course) I had for one of mine.

Good luck, I'm glad you're considering keeping him.

uuuh making a cage is problematic... as hamsters are chewers... therefore wood or anything similar is out... i've sold cages at carboot sales before, and picked them up for next to nothing at junkshops.... try ebay.... so long as you make sure the cage is damn clean (steam cleaning works well) no probs. i've not had any issues and have had a lot of second hand and pre-used cages as i've rescued a few babies lol

Uh, no. Thats a high quality dog food they get once in a while, I've never been fully happy with the ingredients in lab blocks or those seed mixes, so they get a bowl of dog food to wear down teeth and get some good nutrients.
