Hi. I'm new here. I live in Hancock, Maryland. I'm interested in purchasing/adopting a pair of gliders. I can travel a bit, so I'm trying to keep my options open geographically. If you have a glider or know of anything that does, please let me know. Thank you.

oh ya i dont breed for profit i breed bacause i educate people on them so they end up paying for me to care for themselfs as well as my rescues.

It's generally seen as VERY bad and unethical to breed rescues that you take in. You should know the complete history, background, and acestors of gliders you breed.

i dont breed my rescues! I breed my personal glider if they happen to have a baby i dont make them breed, im not unethical im a glider lover.

If you truely are an ethical "rescuer" then all females that are taken in should be with neutered males, and all males taken in should be neutered as soon as they are healthy enough.

so far i have a rescued trio, i tryed puting them with other fixed gliders they didnt like it the stsrted biting each other so i hapen to put them all back together now there fine the male has a problem with his gentiles the vet says not to fix him so i have had 2 babys one from each there happy an healthy.

I highly doubt that. Every male glider that I have ever heard of with genital problems, the first thing recomended by a vet was neutering.

dont you know that you can't just rescue any glider, let alone a trio and just put them with another colony? it takes ALOT of time to introduce them to eachother, or yes, they are going to fight! I'm still trying to introduce my friends twin girls to my colony! I've had them for quite sometime now! their cages are finally in the same room with eachother, but they have to be atleast 5ft apart or they will all hang at the sides of the cages and try to swipe at eachother...and the noises they make are just awful towards eachother..!

I can't even let my rescue girls play on me before my colony does...because if my colony smells them on me...they bite me where the new girls were sitting (which is usually the very middle of my back where I can't reach them or on my shoulders..lol hurts like hell when they bite me there)!!! If they are out first, they are fine!!!

So, introducing colonies is a very time consuming thing....and Facehugs, I agree with you..in my experience, any genital problems recieved a neuter recommendation!

fine ok i dont have to explain myself to anyone i have 8 well 9 if you count joey very happy healthy gliders, believe me i know what im doing an am very happy with my gliders but thanks for the concern

oh honey, we aren't concerned for you, we are concerned for the "rescues" that you breed!!! very unethical!! healthy or not! because if you really knew what you were doing, you would have known that you have to introduce colonies together, and not just toss them together!

and while you dont have to explain yourself...what did you think you were going to hear when you first said you did glider rescue, then you said you breed?!? then you said you only breed your personal gliders...THEN you said you let the "rescued trio" each have a baby...and since he is still not neutered, they are going to just keep on reproducing!!

its just sad!

AMEN! An ethical rescue and knowledgable one whould know how to introduce gliders properly and would also neutered the males, or seperate them from the females so that no breeding would occur. (if the male had a genital defect, you wouldnt want that passed onto offspring even if he wasnt a rescue)
