Does anyone do it?

We went to the horse show last week and they had barrel racing and it was so cool. The horses looked like they were having so much fun. And they are so fast. I would love to do it myself but I know I'll probably never get a chance.

But I was wondering if any of you do it? It was the best part of the show. The jumping was pretty cool to though. x3

I love barrels. I do a little bit of it with my horses. Some horses really do love it. My Morgan master loves it.

Why won't you ever get a chance to try it? Do you have a horse?

I have a horse. We just don't have any flat land where you could possably do it. Maybe we could take him somewhere where we could set it up and try it. But my horse isn't even trained yet so yeah. He's getting trained next month. Does barrel racing require a lot of training?

Sarge is a quarter horse so I figure he'd be good at it. All the barrel racers at the show rode quarter horses.

hey. i ubsessed wit barrel racing and any western games. It doesn't matter what breed your horse is just mainly that it can go fast, and turn. I when I started doing a bit of practicing for showing on my friends -western pleasure- show horse her mare went from slow and calm to wild and fun. Her paint loves gaming so now im showing her for her in gaming and western pleasure. Everybody at the shows cant believe how well she is at it so now were changing her carrer a bit lol. just make sure if you do do barrels taht you can controll your horse i've seen so many people get there horses all pumped up and then teh horses dont listen and knock barrels down or don't even go near em. also don't run ur horse around to much cuz the'll get sick of it and make sure ur horse is fit before you run em hard. if u like barrels you should try things like dash for cash, pole bending, etc. tehre also alot of fun ...wow i cant believe taht i just wrote all that...

It doesn't require tons of training, it's more about skill. Your racing against the clock, so speed is everything. You need a horse that is fast, well coordinated and can turn. Mindset is allot of it too. The horses that really understand the pattern and get into the game are the ones that tend to do the best.

When I was a kid and visting my aunt and uncle and cousins on their farm they entered me in a barrel race at the fair when I hadn't ever done it before. Sugar, the horse, was pretty good and just kinda' did it on her own... I almost fell off though! It was so frightening and embarrassing... Haven't doen it since. I was like 5 or 6!!!

Wow! That was kind of mean of them to enter a 5 year old into that. xD
