I was wondering what are some good memories that everyone can remember with horses?

One of mine is when my dad fell off Storm. His curbchain broke(crummy quality leather) and slapped him in the face which spooked him so, he shot off REALLY fast. And then, he was gonna turn into my neighbors driveway but decided not to so he kind of zigzagged which made me dad fall off. (he wasn't really hurt) The cool thing is, that Storm stopped, turned around, and came back for him! :)

Another one is the first time I took Storm for an official ride! He was a perfect angel! :angel2: I'll never forget it. He always did exactly what I said.

So, what are some of ya'lls horsey memories? I was just wondering. :D

One of my favorite memories was when my mare foaled and I was working with the foal and she licked my hands. It was so sweet and became a lifelong habit for her....I miss her terribly...

One of my favorites has gotta be when me and my friend Emily went on trail bareback and raced eachother down the airline trail, whooping and yelling like indians, and then we made up Indian names for ourselves and our horses for the fun of it. LOL, some times horses bring out the immaturity in me!!
Another one is herding the horses last summer in our back paddock with just halters on.

One of my favorite memories was taking my horses trick or treating with us on halloween. We were all dressed as indians, and had our horses painted, with feathers in thier manes and tails. It was fun. People loved it. I think the horses got more carrots and apples than the candy we got.

That's awesome, Kelly.

Another one of mine was when I went trail riding with my dad at stable that was like an hour away from where I lived at that time. I was soooo excited when I got to ride my dream horse! I black leopard spotted, appalooosa gelding around 15.2 HH. (height isnt that importan though) The next time I went Val, (the guy who owns and runs the place with his wife) asked me which horse I rode last time and if I wanted that one again and so I got to ride him again! He was awesome! His trot was REALLY bouncy though! :hyper:

One time on my pony at a big horse show. I ended up winning the pony classic, and i still can remember the ride. I still remember turning towards home, jumping the last few jumps and knowing that i had a truely perfect ride. Everything clicked and it was such an awesome feeling. One of the last shows i actually rode at, I was on my favorite jumper, and doing a classic. Same feeling, we ended up winning, and it was the biggest rush, especially since it was in a huge grass field and we were galloping the whole time. There are just certain rides i can remember as just having this feeling of clicking, everything was perfect. My most proud moment was when i just moved up onto the big eq. It was one of my first horse shows, and there was a bank jump. My horse was truely an angel but i was scared to death to do it. I did it, and i was so proud of myself

I remember winning an advanced best ridden class with Princess, just after my grandad had bought me a new saddle. The judge told me that I had a good seat and that Princess had a lovely action. It was just a little local show, nothing amazing or high brow, but I was so proud.
I think my happiest memory has to be just riding out alone in the woods on Princess, in the summer, when it was just me and her. I had her for 12 years and miss her so much, I hope and wish that one day I'll have a connection like that with another horse.

Those are cool stories ya'll.
Lonestar, I hope you have another horse someday. You just seem like a person who should have a horse.

really what's their name?

She goes to my School and her name is Cassie. I think her Roper is a chestnut QH gelding, if I remember right.

You're welcome Lonestar. :)

lol nice stories everyone :D. I love the Halloween one...if I owned a horse that's the kind of thing I'd do. I've always wanted to take my pets Trick-or-Treating :D.

Not sure if you all know my story of falling off...
It was at the end of the lesson and all the other horses in the ring were pooped, except mine, so my teacher wanted me to canter this jumping course. It was my first time cantering over jumps (on purpose anyway). But I went ahead and did it, and I just kept going over the course again and again. My horse decided she never wanted to stop :p. I swear, a tiny squeeze on my part and she would've gone galloping off into the distance. She bolted repeatedly over the jumps and kept putting her head down right afterwards, and she wouldn't slow down at all. So this one jump I just wasn't ready for it...I don't remember, I think maybe she jumped much higher than I expected. So I lost my stirrups, she landed and yanked her head down. I rolled over her neck, face forward on the ground :D. My arms and shoulders hurt a little, but that was it. lol sorry if that was long...it was a special moment though...my first fall. Now that horse is one of my faves :D.

Another special moment was most recent...me and some riders at the same level were told to set up a course. We decided to canter over it. This was I'm pretty sure only the 2nd time (1st being my fall) I'd ever cantered a course, but it was so much fun! I really loved it. Now the horse I did it on is also one of my faves :D.

So yeah. There have been those other moments but those are my special ones :).

My favorite horse memory was when we were breaking Kidder. We were lunging him, when he came up to us, snatched the whip out of out hands, and started chasing us with it. The really funny thing was that he was holding the whip the right way too.

Another funny one was when Kid was little( under a year old), he used to somehow manage to pull the buttoms off my blouse when i wasn't looking. I would always be prepared for it, but every time i went to see him, i would somehow end up with no buttons, lol.

Oh, and another time, he desided that the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, so, without even running, he somhow managed to just leap right over the fence. To this day, im still baffled as to how he managed to clear that fence.

He is such a great horse, and i miss my Kid sooo much. :(

Well, I don't own a horse and I want one really bad but I LOOOOOVE Trail Riding. One of my friends used to live on a ranch where they did trails and lessons. She invited me over and we doubled, bareback, on her favorite horse Montana. We were trotting down the dusty trail when we lost out balance and fell off. I hit the ground first and my friend landed on me (we weren't wearing helmets). I suffered from a 3 second concussion but got back up and mounted Montana (with the help of a wooden fence). You see, this was my first time riding bareback and I thought that getting back on was the right thing to do. So the second time it was just me on Montana and we were trotting again. I was doing pretty good til Montana started trotting down a small slope, I lost my balance again and toppled back first onto the ground, hitting my head on a rock and having a 10 second concussion. When I woke up, my friend was yelling "Sarah are you ok?!" and I was killing my self laughing. I replied "That was so fun, can I do it again?!" My friend just laughed and shook her head in disbelief. Later that day, I had the worst headache ever. ^-^
