I was wondering if purebred appaloosas have no tails.

Thanks

No, I guess it is possible for purebred Appaloosas to have a bobbed tail. In general though, all appaloosas have tails. Their tails are usually really thin and not very long.

Hope this helps! :)

Yeah. I'm pretty sure they all have tails. The place I take lessons at has all appaloosas and they all have tails. :3

The foundation Appaloosas, developed by the Nez Perce tribe were bred to have a sparse mane and tail, because it was less apt to pick up briars or get tangled in the brush. Foundation bred Appaloosas and many Appies in general still have the thin mane and tail. The ones with the full tails you see are "Quarter Horses with spots", meaning so much QH has been bred in that they've lost all the Appy traits except the color.

. The horse I ride has like no tail whatsoever. He has the tail bone with a little bit of hair on it. I was just curious. Thanks

I have an appaloosa, and his tail is better than some of the other horses in the barn. I think it just depends on the particular horse.
