im just wondering..i heard that they will most likely have to do a skin scraping. Thats okay..but will I know if he has mites/mange or not right away???? ;)

i just dont want to have to wait for a week before i can know. in that week..he could deteriorate. i love my oreo cookie.

we don't know. we do not know how fast your vet works, if the lab is at the office or if the tests have to be sent away, how busy he vet is, etc. only the vet can tell you these things.

:) Heya.When my Hammie went vets they said it was mites all they did was sprayed her with there mite stuff,and they said she had a aging disease which she will die before due time:( But later on i found out it wasn't mites and when i went back they said she had a liver problem and she was losing wieght and she had to be put down:(

(((((((pinky)))))))) you poor things... it's hard to diagnose hammies... they sooo teeny...

Munkie... your vet may well be able to tell you straight away.... if it's mites you can see them with a powerful microscope... if he is a very good hammie vet he might be able to do it on sight...i guess if you have seen mange enough yuo recognise it... in rocky's case it involved a nit comb and lots of wriggling... gettign the sample took longer than spotting the little mites under the microscope lol


as to treatment working? 6-8 weeks... you can see the spreading stop within days,,, but for fur to actually grow back you are talking about two months... in rocky's case the fur thickened up a bit within the first 2-3 weeks but the actual bald patches are only just starting fuz up.... she may yet have a coat by winter lol
