Ok, i got 2 new salamanders that are pretty young. I wouldn't want to take an adult out of the wild, but since there still young i was wondeering how hard it is to have pet salamanders? one is a mudpuppy and the other, i'm not sure. Do they need a half land half water enviroment? And are they very friendly once they get older? what exactly should i feed them, just like pet store slamander food? thanks for your help!

I don't know squat about Salamanders....but you got them out of the wild? Put them back if you did! If you really wanted some, get them from a pet store.... And do research first.

Well first what kind is it and did you get them from the wild? Salamanders should have a wide variaty of food not only the pet store food. If you still have questions put them back into the wild.

yes, i got them from the wild, but accidently, i was just wondering if salamanders would be a good pet, i think they would, but i'm putting them in my creek soon. My mom wouldn't let me keep them inside anyway. they is a water/land habitat with different foods, plus lots of little water bugs.

i found him accidently in a puddle near the railroad tracks when i was collecting new snails. but the puddle is always really hot and right in the sun. so i'm putting them in my creek (very healthy creek) and they will love it there, lots of food and a nicer home that they won't fry in.
