She actually kinda looks like a baby lionhead .. BEcause She is growing deep in the abdomen and is developing a wen but....... I'm still not sure.. OH another thing I had 2 fish in the tank One for 3 years ( the one we are talking about and the other for 3months they both came from the pet store ... So .. they were the same size .. How big is your tank?
Goldfish need A LOT of room. Ponds are good for goldfish if you dont want a bigger tank.
If it looks like an orianda with no dorsal fin its lionhead.
Also, how are your water conditions?

I know it's small Thanx sooooooooo much It is 10 inches for my 4 fish and an eel .. BUT that is what petsmart told me "You can keep 6 goldfish in a 10 gal. and they will live happily for the rest of there life" i talked to umm Mr. Gerbil I think and said is could be stunted but as i said it's grown 3 times the size of the other fish in 3 days the rest are oranda's one i got 3months ago and two last night .. And your probobly wondering why i got more lol yeah ... i sent in a form about two sick fish at the petstore .. and they were ORANDA's I alrady said i'd take care of them scince i save my one other fish (oranda-Goldie-From swimbladder probs. I am however going to get a 30 gallon tank for the mean time until my b-day when we can get our paycheck cause a 60 gal is a lot when you have.. hold on 5 dogs 3 cats 5 freshwater animals 2 leopard geckos a bird ... 1 WTF (Whites tree frog (dumpy (slmiley) and 2 hermit crabbs

you might say i am crazy but i love them all an dthe are all healthy lolol olol

The can, they could, they probably wont't, live happy for the rest of their life, but it won't be a long one. They are suppose to grow to a foot long. I suggest getting a pond for your birthday or saving your money for a way bigger tank.;)

6 goldfish in a 10 gallon is inhumane. Don't trust petstore people. You should correct them next time so more unlucky fish dont get that kind of treatment.

At the moment I really don't know what the issue is...the picture should help. There are a few possibilities, but there's no point in saying anything before there's some harder evidence.

It could be parasites. Their is no way to cure internal ones after they are in the fish.

What about dropsey. Are the scales sticken out? What are you feeding them? Is it only the bottom swollen or is the whole body getting swollen? Is it acting normal? If there are other ones and this is a female she could be preggo.

"Their is no way to cure internal ones after they are in the fish."

I think there is...

Btw, Cat, I couldn't help but notice the trout fry in your signature?

There is a cure for internal, but its like mad cow. Its already eaten them alive and if you take it away they will still die. Well if you catch it fast then you can cure it.

Yeah. You want them? I dont. Their creek fish. I need to let them go soon. I thought they were minnows but they are looking like trout now or maby blue gill. They looked like zebra danios with one stripe. I put some with my goldfish, but the goldfish ate them so I had to put them in another tank and i need to let them go because they are getting big. Almost the size of my danios. Although they are very good at cleaning the bottom of the tank.

It is possible to get rid of internal parasites.

The treatment that I usually use is Jungle Lab's Parasite Clear. They're fizzy wafers that you drop into the tank. This is one medication that won't harm the biological filter, so I think its a good idea to treat the tank even if you don't know for sure if it is parasites.
There's another medication (unsure of the name right now) that also works very well and won't harm the biological filter, but the be effective, the pH of the tank needs to be below 7.0.

Internal parasites are not always deadly, unless you don't catch it soon enough. Thats why its a good idea to quarentine and treat new fish right away, especially for wild-caught fish.

Other possibilities, as others have mentioned, are dropsy, eggs (although I'm not sure those would appear so quickly), or it could be constipation.

How long did it take for this to develop?

I think there is also a food with medication in it that you can feed them to get ride of internal paracites.

lol...I was thinking of hatching trout, that's why.

Catmakemebark

Oh, lol. Why hatch them when you can have mine!!! They are really cool fish, but they get huge. They arent that hard to take care of though. I feed mine tropical fish food. They are in with my danios and the danios seem to think the fry are like them.

Not to mention viability. Not sure they would make the trip. :(

Catmakemebark
07-13-06, 04:25 PM 07-13-06
Yeah...they probably wouldnt make it. It would way a ton with all of the water so that would be quite a bit unless I take the fish out and put them in an envolpe and mail them to you.
