He's driving me nuts. All I need to do is razor blade the last of the silicone off, I have been done cleaning the tank for two days! I can't get any more deposits off and I am just piddling. He decided he doesn't need to replace any wood and he's just going to re-seal the cabinet to prevent future water damage. So do it already! ARGH He still hasn't got the razor blades either. He yelled at me for using a dull steak knife (the kind without the serrated edge) to clean off the majority of the silicone but I got tired of waiting! Okay, done griping, just needed to vent.

Okay, you guys can quit poking now. LOL I finally got my razor blade and despite his gloom and doom statement I was able to get the last of the silicone off the tank with no trouble. I didn't make it harder after all! As for him doing stuff to the cabinet, well, to be fair its 108 degrees outside right now. I lasted about six minutes myself.

Hey did you tank the silicon of to reseal it because I have a big tank that has leaks in it. If I take of the silicon and put more on will in not leak?

It was a turtle tank the silicone was from a shelf they removed but yes, you can re-seal a tank to fix leaks. Look up aquarium repair, there are TONS of articles. One good thing, remove ALL old sealant, I guess new will NOT stick to old. Luckily, I didn't have to re-seal this one, just remove the silicone from the shelf.

From what I saw when I looked up info on how to remove it, lots of people repair the sealant. You have to empty it fully and dry it out first. Seems a pain to do but not really difficult. You would fill it up and check for leaks after you repaired it. I didn't see anything about them breaking unless the leak was in the glass itself and not the edges.
