Hi,
Weve bred many rodents, but never had any like our baby syberians. They were not an intentiona breeding, so we were not prepared for them. They are currently 2weeks old, and confusing us!
Currently all 10 have their eyes closed, but are climbing their tubes and playing. They nurse a bit from Mom, but they are mainly eating on their own now. These are the most active little guys we've ever gotten, and its amazing that they do this all with their eyes closed!
Are all baby Syberians slow to open their eyes like this? And do all of them go on with life while their eyes are closed?
I have to add that out of all the hamsters I've met in my life the Syberians are incredibly wonderful. Ive never recieved even a nip, and I've handled the babies from day one, with Mom never complaining at all. What great news for hamsters, ones that are darling and tame!
