he is probably just still scared. all out kittens act like that when they are young. he is just fine. just make sure that when you hold him you make sure his feet are against you or something so he feels more secure. if he feels like he is going to fall that won't help him calm down any. the more you hold him and comfort him the better he will get and eventually he won't act like that when you hold him.

He was taken from his mother too soon. He is not even 8 weeks yet, and you have had him since he was 6 weeks. As a general rule kittens should not leave their mother before 10-12 weeks, 8 at the earliest. That explains some of the problem

Because of this you have to be very conscious of what you teach him since you are now in place of the mother teaching him things.

Even so he was too young to take from his mom. You have to take on the role of teaching him new things. Just take it slow, and like silverbrook said, make sure that when you do hold him keep him close to you, and try to pick him up slowly.

It also helps to lay on the ground while you are holding him, that way there is no way to fall. Congrats on your new kitten!

Congrats you got a kitten way to many weeks before you should have and now he's going to require extra work and care. Welcome to responisble pet ownership. One reason why having a few dozen animals isn't such a good idea:rolleyes:

Make sure he learns you wont hurt him, and teach him to keep his claws to himself. Once he reaches the age he was to be seperated from his mother he should improve some, but damage is already done so you have your work cut out for you.
