Hi,

Last week i bought 2 hamsters (seperate cages) and i'm finding it really hard to pick them up!
Rainbow is ok letting me stroke him, but Buzz runs away all the time, he won't even let me touch him.
Both are babies, aprox 8 weeks old, so any tips would be great, as i've been told if i don't start to handel them soon i never will be able to hold them...HELP

If you only just bought them last week, they should be ok to handle. R u making sure that ur hand is above the hamster? If it is, they take it as a threat. Also, if u feed them titbits out of ur hand then they will get used to ur smell. That's all the advice I can offer right now. If I think of anything else, I'll get back 2 u. :kitty:

i was always taught to allow them to smell you before touching/picking them up, try not to startle them.

also, if they are sleeping, dont go and wake them up just so you can play with them, they dont like it too much and sometimes they will bite.
(:EL: i learned that the hard way)

and if you smell like food, they will try to see if you taste like food (hint hint) so wash your hands before you touch them.

i think thats about it, good luck!
