my ham had babies 2 days ago. She made her nest in the woodchips on the floor and i saw a whole pile of pink babies. Now today i looked, and there is only 2 babies! I'm sure there were more than that. She is a campbells dwarf hamster. She has been re-vamping her little nest-hole in the floor, and i'm afraid shes buried her babies outside her nest and didnt even know it. THat or she ate them, which im trying not to believe. She doesnt have blood on her fur. ooh. that would be gruesome. Can i somehow move her nesting material around witha spoon or something to see if they are there? I dont want her to eat the two babies that are still there.!! help!

if you can get her out of the cage to look at them, wear gloves but dont move it about too much. She may well have eaten them.

Too bad you don't have access to some infra-red goggles- you could detect their heat without disturbing the nest. Don't some hunters use stuff like that? Know someone who hunts? (That you are still on speaking terms with) LOL!
