Hi,
Well everyone... this morning my sister woke up and yelled for me to come downstairs because my cats paw was off her leg. Now I know my sister and I wouldn't believe her until I saw it myself. 3 seconds later I was in the car driving to the emergency animal hospital. They are going to have to cut of the leg. She smelled very strongly of gasoline so my father thinks it was a lawn mower that ran her over. Has anyone ever owned a three legged cat. Is it different? Obviously she will be an indoor cat from now on. My friend owns a three legged cat so I can get advice from her. Now that I think of it there was another post about 3 legged cats on here a while ago. Well anyway, advice welcome... :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

P.S. It was Salem.

How terrible! Poor Baby! She will take a long time to heal and adjust, but I guarantee she will be a very special and loving cat- you'll give her more love and attention and she'll respond positively. I'm just sorry that she has to go through the pain and discomfort first. Gosh- isn't it amazing what an animal can endure? Imagine her making it back home with that sort of injury! She knew exactly where to go for help.

Hi,
Today Salem had her operation and all went well. It turns out that they had to operate on her front leg (the right side hind leg was removed) because the tendons were all messed up and needed a bandage on her other hind leg. We visted her today after the operation and she turned around, but the doctor said that sometimes she tries to get out of the cage and falls. I was very surprised about this, but the doctor said that she could come home tommorow. I hope she will be alright... I'm worried that we'll get home and she will just lie in the vet's carrier because she can't walk. I'm pretty sure she will be stumbling around though. Thanks for helping me through this hard time everyone!

Hi,
Today I was so scared that Salem had gotten away! She loves sitting on the porch where she can feel summer air (it's a closed in porch with screen windows and doors) so my parents let her when I was at camp and blocked the door which has a hole in it the cats created as a cat flap. Salem (amazingly) pushed aside the coffee table blocking the door and ran outside. Soon my mom looks up from reading on the porch to check on Salem and the bandage that covered her remaining back leg was next to the door, she had wiggled out of it! Luckily she only got as far as down on the driveway. :weyes: That gave us all a big scare!! But now she's back safe inside. Phew! Thanks again for all your comfort and support!
