This is a fun and easy recipe for your hamster to eat and enjoy. Curtousy of: www.petfoodrecipes.com and tweaked a little by me.:)
Salad:
three peices of carrots
1 LEAFY lettuce peace
1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
1/4 cup of raisins
1/4 cup of cheerios
three peices of apple
Your hammy should love a new treat. just remember to not leave it in too long. The food your hammy that he doesn't eat will attract bugs. You don't want that.

Lettuce isnt recommended to give to your hamster as it has a lot of water in it. Cheerios and raisins have sugars and can effect a dwarf hamster as they are prone to diabetes and sunflower seeds are very oily and fattening and can cause fat to develope around the heart killing it if given too many sunflower seeds. Small proportions are best of fresh fruit and veggies with hamsters.

Personally, I don't think it would be too harmful to give treats like this very occasionally. If you use a darker green lettuce, rather than iceburg, it might be more nutritious. I think if you give it to them alot then it would be unhealthy.

I agree, neither did I. I know how Lettuce can give the wet tail disease to hammies , (and correct me if I'm wrong) but if it's not too much and it's not the iceburg kind, it should be okay. Also, I didn't give my hamster 1/4 a cup of cheerios, or raisins (i didnt give him any sunflower seeds, since we don't have any) I only gave him 5 or 6 peices. I should've made that more clear in the recipe and I apologize.
(And like she said, rarely give him a treat like this.)

I don't think a treat like that would actually cause too much harm, aslong as it's only fed once in a while.
I've fed my hamster lettuce before (not iceburg) and she was fine. I even asked a vet (who is specialised in small animals) and she said a little bit of lettuce is okay, as long as it's not ice burg.
My hamster hates rasisins though, I tried to feed her one once and she wouldn't eat it. That resulted in her throwing it out of the cage.. lol!
I don't know what 1/4 cup is either, seeing as I live in UK and we don't measure things like that. Sounds like a good idea as long as you tweek it a bit.

I agree with JaneG. It wouldn't cause any harm if you gave the hamster like a small (dark green) lettuce leaf, with 2 cheerios, 4 sunflower seeds, and 1/4 slice of an apple.
