I am assuming she died since shes not in your signature?
You should have taken her to a vet.

How did you know she was pregnant and the "baby" (hamsters usually have 4-12, not one) died? Its possible she gave birth, and you didn't know it and disturbed her nest, causing her stress which would usually mean she ate the babies.
If infact the babeis died in her, usually the mother's body with reabsorb them. But there can be complications.
If there is any doubt that something's wrong with her, take her to a vet that treats small animals immediately.

"i dont want her to die"
This statment makes me think she's still alive. If she is, TAKE HER TO THE VET RIGHT AWAY!! Sorry for the yelling, just wanted to get my point across. There should be no question about that....if anything is wrong with an animal...take it to the vet.

Well, in another thread she/he posted they just lost their dwarf yesterday, I don't see any live hamsters in her sig..but there are three under R.I.P..
So, I think the hammy is already dead!

I see. I must have missed that thread or maybe just didn't make the connection that it was the same person. I'm not so good with names and I'm still figuring out who everyone is here. :) Thanks for the info. I'm sorry if you lost your hammie. But I stand by what I said about the vet. If I have any question what-so-ever about the health of one of my pets, I call the vet immediately and get them in to be seen. It's just not worth the risk if they might be sick.

Chaos, it depends how far developed the babies are as to whether they are reabsorbed or not, because if they are too big, if they die then they are going to rot, cause shocking infections that most animals wont survive.
We had a very similar problem with an alpaca on the farm, i was in tears as they had to oull the cria out, couldnt do c-section as it was too rotten and infection would kill the female at that point. That was a couple of months ago now and she is still having lots of problem :( I just cant see a hamster surviving that.

Actually its toxoplasimia or something along those lines tha causes the ham to be sick from the rotting babies, it can happen to ANY animal. It happened to my cat :( but the vets were idiots and said everything was fine, even after i demanded a ultrasound and x-rays and they said mother kitties deliver on there own and dont nee dhelp etc and that the babies were fine, long story short..she died..and I sued the vets ass off.. :D She has been gone for quite a while now..I think it was 4 years this past May..I miss her, she is the one in my display picture.
