I read on here that someone's favorite treat for her ham is sesame seeds so I picked up a box at the store tonight. Little Girl (she's a dwarf hammie for anyone who isn't familiar) LOVES them!! She scurried around eating them and was looking for more. How many is ok?? They're so tiny, I figured she could probly have quite a few. I'd guess I gave her about 10. Is that too many? Could she have more? Is it something she can have everyday or only once or twice a week??

I just thought of something else...could you give a dwarf hammie oatmeal? Uncooked of course. I was fixing oatmeal this morning (the Quaker old fashioned kind with the big pieces of oats) and thought maybe my hammie might like an oat. I didn't give it to her since I didn't know. What do you think?
I know I've asked alot of food questions and it probly sounds like I'm feeding my hamster treats all the time, but honestly I'm not. I just know I'm gonna have her for a long time and wanna know what's good and what's not. Plus I wanna offer her variety so I'm trying to think of alot of good, different things she can have. :)

I give my hamster sesame seeds!I have been feeding her sesame since she was 2months old and now she is 10 and perfectly healthy! I do not thing that feeding sesame is bad considering the high nutritional valuebut but mind not to give her too much of it as sesame seeds have too many calories! It was one time that i gave her a good pintch of sesame every day and she got pretty fat! Now i have limited it to 3-4 days a week, which is perfect for my hammy! Do not give her too many seeds, as she will stuff as many as she can in her pouches and eat them.

Oatmeal is fine, both cooked and uncooked. If you feed it warm you can mix it watery so it's not sticky and mix it with soy milk for an extra treat. My critters love their warm cereals.

Wow, I never THOUGHT of Sesame Seeds! That's a GREAT idea! I can use the ones that are left over from making sushi! :) Yay, little Opie will probably love 'em! :D
