I use a lil bit of bleach with a lot of water and it works perfectly fine, soak it for a bit in just water afterwards then just wipe it down with paper towel.

I put 2 inches of bedding in my tank & when I dump the bedding out, my cleaning has been cut in half.

All I typically have to do is use alittle bit of comet & spray it down, rinse it, rinse again & dry it. The main dirty part of her cage is her bathroom corner.

but it may be different if you don't have access to such outdoor things.

I use watered down viniger because I don't like the smell of bleach and I am afraid of my hammie licking it but you can trust tia, she knows what she is talking about.
I also spray none toxic urine desolver.

Bleach is funny...when u mix it with water and use it to clean, it all evaporates causing no harm to your hammie, then just rinse out with warm water and dry out with paper towel and it's 100% safe, I promise!

I spend more time rinsing out my tank & the black rim than cleaning it just to make sure of myself. It helps me feel better about using something like bleach :p

i use hammie safe disinfectant... costs about £2 for a bottle that lasts about 6 months. and it smells really nice... then every so often i boil wash the cage as well. (like it sounds... cage in bath then boiling wtaer over top)

i also use a mite / fly spray although that's noly because we had mice problems in the flat and i didnt want my hammie to catch anything... mice are long caught and released a few miles away but the spray is now part of my routine.

Pixi, where do you get the disinfectant and do you know it's safe? Do you know all the ingredience?

i spray bleach then scrub it in the bathtub till it's spotless then wash it out lots... then i air it out a little bit with a blow dryer to get the fumes out;)

I have heard vinegar and water works fantastic.

I'm the type of person who uses hot water and a sponge. I'm not a chemical kind of person. Lolz.

If you want no residue(sp) left on anywhere I recommend vinegar water and a bit of soap, I use that to wash down my walls when I painted the nursery! :) Once I get everything set up I'll post nursery photos!
