Little Guy shows no interest in the wood blocks that I put in his bin for him but loves the Milkbones. Are they enough to keep his teeth worn/filed down?

I'm not sure, but I hope it's some help because that's what my hamsters do. Ignore the wood blocks/bark bites and just nibble away at the milk bones!

Haha. My hams use to do the same thing. They work; you could also try figurines made out of cardboard. (i.e: little hamster houses made of cardboard.) They can go inside or chew it to pieces. My hams loved them.

All I've used for my hamsters are Milkbones and it is enough to keep their teeth at bay. So no worries it is perfectly fine to just use milkbones, but also have a chew block handy when they want to nip and nibble at it!

So long as you are able to check their teeth every few weeks etc, then you can see how they are doing.

One of my rescue teddy bears never chewed anything except peanut shells... and i tried EVERYTHING... but in the 10 months i had him we never had any teeth issues.

Ah good.. they love their milk bones. And these other hard treats as well.

Everyone always goes on about how much their hamsters love to chew/rip apart cardboard and toilet paper rolls etc, but all my hams have never chewed on them, ever! Just climb in and out of them.

Thanks for the replies everyone. :) I'll just keep an eye on him to make sure it is working. He also has some harder pieces of food in his bowl and so maybe between the two he'll be ok.
animalmagic....maybe those hamsters who do alot of chewing, shredding, etc. are frustrated but our hammies are so spoiled and happy that they don't need to do any of that. he,he :p

All hamsters are different, and it aint a good thing that yours not chew the blocks,as there teeth are gonna get really long and not alot of vets work on that.
My hamsters are spoiled,i get my wages and i go straight to pets at home, and another pet shop, ive had them a month yesterday and they have more than 20 toys.I just got back from town alittle while ago and brought them 3 toys each. And mine chew there blocks,it dont mean they are bored and not spoiled its just what they wont to do.

Oooh no we didn't mean yours aren't spoiled! ilovepink, your hamsters are some of the most spoiled I know- I know how many toys your little ones have! Millions!

I know it's a bad thing that they don't chew on the blocks, but not much I can do about that lol.

We were just joking around. Not insinuating that your hammies were not spoiled too. Sorry if I made you feel bad, I wasn't intending too. :(
