Well, I have a dwarf hamster named Jill, recently, her cage mate (Lil) died. Jill's seemed kind of depressed recently, she runs her wheel less often, and seems to sleep more often as well. What can I do to cheer her up?

How old is Jill? You might want to get her a friend if possible. Or give her some more toys in her cage.

You can introduce them carefully and if they get along well you can put them togeather.

The age for hams being introduced to new hams doesnt really matter, it all depends on there temperment. It is possible for you to take Jill down to a pet store and fine a friend that gets along with, if you are interested in doing that. If not as said, toys and treats help bunches.

if you only lost lil recently then jil may take some time to adjust... spend lots of time with her and spoil her rotten... it might be worth considering going to an animal rescue and that way you may be able to get a hamster of a similar age... just make sure you sex it yourself... i;ve read so many threads on here where people ended up with unexpected babies even from shelters!

Shelters such as the spca and such are usually very good at sexing hamsters.

Hiya.
Yeh maybe get a new friend for him, like Tia said take Jill down and see, that would be better than bringing one home just incase they dont get along, and then you might not want the newbie,it maybe because hes cage mate died recently, and still gettin through it.Or he might be old hes self now and less active, how old is he?
Yeh get him some toys and spoil him,he will love that:D

Spoil him rotten, spend every moment hes awake with him, and soon that will cheer him up.
