I just knealt on my gerbil kingsley, dealing him a glancing blow to the head. He has a blood nose, is in the corner and has his eyes half closed. I'm quite sure I've killed him. I'm so sorry...my Kingsley. My poor, beautiful Kingsley. What have I done? Oh god...if he dies...I'll never forgive myself.

Oh my gosh, how horrible. :( I'm so sorry :(
Things like that happen, try not to blame yourself.

Update: As far as I can see his nose has stopped bleeding, but his eyes are stll droopy. I think he may be in shock. That, or his head took a bigger bang than I thought. Only time will tell. Pray for him people = ' \

The closest vet in Ireland that deals with gerbils is like 4 hours away. I'd be more than willing to drive that far but my mum and dad arn't. 'Nother update: His eyes are now less droopy, his nose has stopped bleeding and he seems to be a good bit more active, though still quite subdued. I checked on him this morning and he had a red crust on his eye, preventing him from opening it. I dabbed a bit of water on it and he took it off himself. Only time will tell now = (

I would make sure he gets enough fluids, give him water from a syringe..and maybe even some baby food. If he has a wheel, take it out for a while. Let him rest. I have dealt with quite a few animals that were in shock..it takes some time, but with fluids and rest, they usually come out of it nicely.

Ok, thanks. My mum says she'll let me take him to the vet this evening to get checked up. I'm sure I have a syrige lying around here somewhere, so I'll give him water through that. I just refilled his bottle and put a bowl of water in his cage too. I'm stil not entirely sure but he should be ok now.

Things are deffo looking up. He's quite active, the crust hasn't renewed itsself and the droop is gone. He's on the road to recovery if he's not there already. Wow...what a scary 12 hours. Note to self: Never again let gerbil jump off bed onto floor then try to pick him up.

WOW that first post was pretty scary. I mean when you said you kneeled on him I immediately thought you put your full weight on his head. He's/you're really lucky!
Good luck!

Put a bit of softer food near him and the water near him too, so he doent need to move as far, try to keep the room dark ish, so he doent need to make his bed "light proof" (letting him rest more)
Hope all goes well, and keep toes updates coming in! Also, is he on his own or not?
