I bought some plants off of ebay the other day...
Some guy was disassembling his 40 gal tank and converting to saltwater and I bought his whole lot of plants.
It is A LOT of plants!!!
A couple of large anubias (coffee leaf) and a few smaller ones of a different variety.
a HUGE bunch of java fern, and several small plants... I seriously must have at least 300 leaves...,
a bunch of thin leaf rotala,
hygrophila,
a big clump of java moss,
and a couple of itty bitty tiger lotus...
Had to share my excitement :D
I set up the 55gal in the basement and I'm in the process of sorting thru it all right now...
I'll take some pics and post them later :)

Well, here are some pics...
This is right after I pulled them all out of the bucket. Sorting out the rotala (the stuff on the lower left) was a challange... it was all tangled up.

Look at the huge bunch of java fern! :D
The dark clump in the middle is the java moss.
I set up the 55gal just so I would have a place for the plants right now. Some of them will be going into the 90gal when I get it set up. Some will go into my 20 gal, too. I am thinking of leaving the 55 set up and keeping some in there.
I bought 2 bags of sand so I would have something to plant them in. I was lucky enough to find pure silica sand since play sand around here is no good. I didn't have a chance to wash it, but the first bag was great! Pure white and hardly any dust. The 2nd bag was totally different stuff! It made the water a mess....as you can see...

There are really plants in there...I swear!!
Here's a pic of the tank earlier today. Still not totally cleared up but at least you can see the plants...

I forgot. What were you going to put in there nell?
That is going to be a sweet tank. It makes me want to work on my 55 gallon now. OT but on the subject of 55 gallons...I dont think I can finish mine because the edge fram is NOT coming off...no matter how hard I try so I might just get my dad to go out and buy a 55 gallon set up at walmart...because I am a wimp and I am lazy...so yeah.

I don't really have plans to put anything in there right now, actually. I just needed a place to put the plants so they wouldn't die until I could get them in the other tanks, so I set the tank up just for that. In the next few days, I plan on setting up some simple DIY co2 to see if I can get them to grow better.
But now that I've got it set up, I'm thinking that I could just leave it set up and put some fish in there...
any ideas?

hehe, with all the activity in this forum lately, I forgot about this thread!
I've never actually seen a glass catfish, Cat. I suppose they'd be pretty hard to find around here. They do look really neat though!
I have been debating on putting angelfish in the tank... but I dunno yet. I'd like to find something that will do well with the plants but is not very common... but my choices for uncommon fish around here is pretty limited.
Anyway, here's a pic of the tank I took today. The water has cleared up and I've done some rearanging. I put a couple of pieces of driftwood in there too, but they are not waterlogged yet so they're just wedged in there whatever way I could get them to stay underwater. I also added a few coconut shells wrapped with a layer of java moss. Thankfully the coconut shells sink.

I should be getting a few more plants from someone next week... some Vallisneria spiralis.
Sora, I'm hoping that if you see this thread, you could give me some pointers on some of these plants if you've kept them. thanks :)
