I purchased this yesterday because I was running low on water conditioner. I THOUGHT I read this was really good stuff on this forum but after talking to Leah yesterday I am not sure! Can anyone tell me if this is a good thing or not?

I haven't heard of amquel myself...guess it's not a UK thing.

If Leah doesn't reckon it's a good idea, she probably knows what she's talking about.
Having said that, I'm not sure why it would be so detrimental...It's probably easier if I ask her later...

How urgent is the need for conditioner?

Amquel is a conditioner that also binds ammonia, therefor, if you put it in an established tank, it could mess with the biological filter by making the ammonia unavailable and starving the bacteria.
In the puffer tank it would probably be okay because you have enough plants to absorb any ammonia, but I don't recommend using it in the goldie tank, since it could cause an ammonia spike after the conditioner has reached its ammonia binding capacity.

I have a bottle of this stuff that I got free somewhere, and I can use it in the planted tanks without a problem, but its probably better to take it back and get something you can use for both tanks.

Nuts! Now I can't remember where I read it was good stuff either. lol I'll go back to my $2 water conditioner. I haven't used it because I wanted information first.
