does anybody know if oil is essential for horses? I was at the barn this Saturday and overheard a horse owner talking to someone else, about adding oil to the horse diet, he said it gives glossy coat and good overall look..
What kind of oil is it? ussual one, like Corn or olive? How much and is it really necessary? and do u just mix it with dry food?
~Thanx

It might be corn oil, I dont know that olive oil is used for coats. Only two to three ounces a day and yes it should be mixed in food.

This is only for horses that have a dull coat and need something to boost extra shine when thorough, regular grooming wont do it.

It's cod liver oil and used in older horses to keep joints supple. It can also add a sheen to there coat.
