EDIT: Original post was edited out with update info!
Im making a DDR pad!
I now have the pad set up! it techinacally is a pad right now, and fully works!
Now i just need to get the 5 stationary panels in, and work on aesteticks.
You will notice how its very, very slim. WITH the base its ONLY 1 inch thick! And when done it will be a mind boggling 1.25 inches!
It works pretty, well, i did tesitng aswell!

modded controller

the switch, veyr simple, its the exact thing of what i did

a better view, notice the liberal use of ductape! i was afraid of the thin wood splitting, so i went with the ducky way.

Dance Dance Revolution. It's a Playstation 2 game where you do dance moves on the pad according to the game screen. Pretty fun and good exercise!

Yeah, almost every arcade I've ever been to has a dance dance revolution game and there are always a couple of people who are extremely good

well, i got another controller, but is broken period. never worked. Tested it before modding, never worked. Returning and getting another.
meanwhile, i did anothe test, by seeing contunuatlity. all arrows work!
also, i finished the rest of the pad, all i need is sheetmetal and plexiglas. its to make it look good, and to protect the paper from crumpling (paper for the arrow decals). I also made the 5 stationary pads!

Here it is! I'm gonna call Regal Plastrics about their clear plastic polymers. Meanwhile, I will find sources of sheetmetal. Anyone here know any retail chains (like home depot, lowes) that sell sheetmetal?

Wow, I would never be able to do that. I love DDR! My brother bought a pad online, 300 bucks! But, he did buy a nice one! (It isn't just like a mat) Anyways, you did a good job. Can't help you with the sheetmetal question, though.
