View Full Version : Deformed Guppies - Why?

Hi all,

My guppy had a couple dozen babies about six weeks ago, and they all looked healthy and fine when they were born. I gave most of them away and kept a few for myself.

Just this week, two of the adopted guppies (each given to different owners) started having freaky problems. Their spines are becoming bent, almost in a U-shape. One of the poor little guys has been swimming belly-up -- but still eating and trying to move around -- and both of them are hiding in their tanks and hardly moving.

So far, it's just the two fish -- All of the babies in my aquarium look normal, and both of my friends have other baby guppies from the same family that look fine.

We are worried about these fish, and would appreciate some advice from any experts out there. Do you think there is a problem with food or tank conditions? One of the fish is in a 1-gallon tank, the other in a 5-gallon. Also, if the fish are just deformed -- what should we do with them?
