We took him to the vet and he has a UTI, or something similar. I can't remember the exact name right now. Anyway, the vet gave us meds for him for two weeks, and after two weeks he's going in for a checkup to see how he's doing then.
However, there's a new problem. Patches won't stop growling and hissing at him! Whenever he comes close, she starts hissing at him and he backs away. Anyone know why she might be doing this?

Was Sox in the hands of the vet for a while???
If so, he probably can smell the other cats, other humans. I wouldn't worry too much about it. My cats always hiss and occasionally swat at the nose of whichever cat just came home from the vet.

I have had this happen with my cat occasionally after a vet visit. He's probably picked up some smells from the vet office and thats what your other cat is reacting to.
Try putting a dab of vanilla on the back of both cat's necks and it should mask the new smell.
So the vet didn't find any crystals in his urine? (its a good thing if he didn't) Usually the vet will put the cat on a special diet along with meds if thats the case.
Am I remembering right that you said that he had another UTI not long ago and that the cats were eating Chicken Soup cat food?
As a long term solution, I would look into a change in food since he seems to be having problems with the other stuff. Try gradually switching to another premium food and I also suggest adding more wet food to their diet. You might want to also look into getting them a fountain so they're drinking more. The extra water helps dilute urine so there is less chance that bacteria builds up. Its also a good long term preventative for kidney disease.

Thor had a UTI & secondary infection... he had the crystals that start with an "S" I cant remember the name right now. So he had to be put on meds for 2 weeks and had to be on a prescription diet and still does.

Patches just smells something unfamiliar. When we bring animals back from the vets, they treat them like strangers.. but they get over it. When we bring a dog back from the vet, the others hump them like crazy.

Nope, that's not Sox, lol.
The thing is, this was happening the day before we took him to the vet, too.

Can someone please help me? Or at least offer a theory or support? This is STILL going on, and I don't know what to do.

We don't know.... we said what we thought it may be.... I don't know what else to say except just give it some time.

I am telling what happens with mine, and sometimes it just takes longer for them to get over it. I wouldn't worry so much.
What exactly is going on with the cats?

She's hissing at him, and whenever she hisses at him he cries. This was going on before we took him to the vet, so I don't think it's that she smells the vet on him. Recently they've started getting into physical fights.

has anything in your home changed when this behavior began? How did they act towards each other before? Do you have stray cats wandering around outside?

I wonder if they are fighting for dominance in the household....

We got a new couch, that's about it. There are no stray cats around us. I think they're fighting for dominance, but it's dragging on and it's getting hard to deal with (the cats are waking us up at night).
