What do you think about this edible house?

I saw this at the petstore and thought it sounded like my hamster would love it...the problem I have is that it said "100% edible" but the primary ingredient is pine wood shavings...which doesn't sound like a very good thing for hamsters to eat. Will hamsters just gnaw on it rather than it? Because that would be ok. What do you guys think?

I don't know ... I'm not so sure I'd want my hamster eating pine wood shavings. O_o

I know the same brand they make for guinea pigs is too sugary and has too much calcium. I don't know that that much honey is good for hamsters.

I would just say that if you have to question whether it is safe... do *not* buy it!

I would not buy those things in a million years! Hmasters *are* going to try eating it because it has a stupidly huge amount of sweet honey and stuff in it but the main ingredient is wood! What *were* they thinking?

One of the hamsters I have came with one of those houses...I gave it to my growing baby rats..they don't even chew on it, they just sleep and play on it.

Wow, I didn't know that either! I've seen then before too and thank-god I didn't buy one, who would want their hamster eating pine?? That's why I mostly make all of my toys and houses! Much safer!! :)

i have the log they made. i didnt realize it was made of pine though. i just thought it was cool. anyways,cinnamon doesnt chew on it. just crawls in and out of it. he rather chew on his toilet paper roll or tissue box.

i didn't know that, either!! these are the ingredients from the site:

Pine wood shaving, cassava starch, alfalfam straw liqui mix (water, sodium alginate, potassium sorbate, propionic acid, honey, glycerin, propylene glycol).

Doesn't sound like something i would want my hammie eating! :p
