Gadget: New Addition [Pics, Of Course]

"Hi, I'm Kelli. I have a problem. I'm addicted to hamsters." :laughing:

I went to the store today to get some things for everyone. Mostly I was looking for water bottles for aquariums. No one sells them anymore. You have to buy the guard piece [pain in my butt to spend more money, I tell you].

So after I'm satisfied, I pass right by the counter out of pure curiosity. I decide to take a looksy at the hamsters. Oh my gawd, I am so not smart. Little black and white one ... in the back corner. I started to turn, like, "No ... no ... no!" and then I was like, "Can I look at this hamster?" ... Oops.

So, you know the rest. She was crawlin' all over me and being all cute and inquisitive and when she came into my hand by herself it was a deal breaker. "Box her up. I'm takin' her home."

I checked. It's a girl. I thought about doing intros between her and Lucky, but I don't think Lucky wants to live with anyone else. Spoiled brat. ^_^

So home came ... Gadget! Named after the girl mouse from Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers. :laughing:

Wow, she is my dream Dwarf! I love black and whites! Of course I wouldn't have been able to resist! I don't even stop by the small animals when I go to pet stores anymore..its just too much for me..lol

I know! The cage is ALWAYS empty when I go in there! But, they get them in every Friday, so I should have known better. There were 3. There was an all grey one, too. But ... you know ... I don't have any with black on them. Lolz!

I try not to go in any pet shop, except the one where we get our shavings, hay etc(which is on the mainland, so I don't get chance often anyway)for exactly that reason, it's so hard to leave without a new addition to the family:-)
Last time I went in there, we were on our way to pick up our rescues, which is the only thing that stopped me getting one of the cutest little Hams I had seen in a while, I have often thought of her since though, which makes me think maybe I should've just got her anyway!(sigh)

I am not even ALLOWED to go into one of our pet stores. Its the one where they sell feeder mice and rats. It is SOO hard to look at the baby feeder rats and TINY little mice and not leave with a couple of them knowing if I don't take them, they are someones lunch. So I don't go in there at all...except when I know I will be leaving with something.

But I don't need any new additions...Lillian (Hamster) will be having her babies soon.. Actually, she has been pretty quiet which is unusual..so I should check her. ;)

Yeah, I have just been lucky about going in there when it's empty so I haven't been worried about it. My curiosity is a horrid downfall of mine.

But, you know, hamsters aren't a big deal in my opinion, so I'm happy about it. She is such a doll. Bit of a chicken, but adorable nonetheless! I'll get a photo of her cage after shopping tomorrow. I'm going out to get her some toys [and probably a clear bin so I can keep a better eye on her]. :)

It was hilarious because the girl at the shop wouldn't touch the hamsters. She said she's had bad luck with them. So I stuck my hand in there and waited for Gadget to warm up and let her curiosity take hold. Her and the grey one were both licking and brushing their teeth against my hand. :D It was so cute!

Thats funny because at the shop that sells feeders, there were baby Syrians the last time I went.. and I asked this one lady who was new to working there if I could hold them, and she said I had to get them out because she was afraid of them :rolleyes:.

You should have gotten the gray one too! Is she alone now?

Nope. The grey one is in with another standard Campbell's dwarf.

I thought about that as I was posting. I was like, "Man ... I should have snatched up that grey one."

Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and see if he/she is still there. But if it's a boy it would have to have its own cage and the Campbell's would be alone. They are the only local place that carries dwarves, so they go fast.

That grey one was really cute, though. ^_^

What a cutie bum! I'm like that with pet shops too. I try not to look but you just can't resist, there's no point trying to fight it.. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!

I nearly got some mice and ferrets yesterday.. but we didn't give in, phew!

Anyway, she's gorgeous and hope you're very happy with her! :biggrin:

Lolz! I'm waiting for ferrets and a hedgehog now. Those are other pets I really want. ^_^

I have a ferret rescue nearby that I'll be adopting from. Don't know where I'll get my hedgie. PetCo said they could order me one.

She is a doll! But there's a thought! Imagine that the grey one was a male and they breeded in the pet-shop! What would be the colour of the babies? Maybe all black-white and all the shades in between! Multy-coloured hamsters! Perfect for old grey movies!

I already suspect one or both of my female rats are pregnant, which is not good. Oh no.

Ofcourse not! I just read your newer post and know that you took in Clarisse, the slappy-hammy! At least you know that she is a female! And i don't thing that either of them is pregnant! And i am so happy they are doing well together!! They are 2 very lucky hamsters!
