It's never going to end! All of these hamsters!
So I went back to the store today to see if they still had the grey one. No. They sold it after I left last night.
However, that little standard was still in there in the back corner where Gadget was the night previous. So the girl pulled out the cage and asked if I wanted to see the standard anyway and I decided I would, because I did feel guilty about bringing home Gadget by herself. Darn conscience.
So the girl puts her hand in there and the hamster spazzes! Lolz! The girl quickly pulls away and goes, "Yeah, it's aggressive. You can stick your hand in if you want." So, I did. I'm really not afraid of a baby dwarf hamster. But when I stick my hand in there she freaks again, but I notice ... she's not biting. She is slapping me! This little girl's [I checked] first defense is to slap stuff! It is the funniest thing I have ever seen!!!
I just started laughing. She did eventually start chewing on me as hard as she could [not very hard ... heehee] and the the girl working asked if she was actually biting me and was shocked that I wasn't pulling away. OMG, this little one is hilarious. So, I brought her home. Her name is Clarice. Clarice and Gadget are getting on okay. A little bit of slapping and sniffing and chasing, but they're calming down now. I think they'll make a good team.
I went to give Clarice a Yogie when we got home and she slapped it right out of my fingers. Lolz! Man, she is just too funny.
I did also feel bad because I knew she would be harder to sell since they thought she was actually really aggressive when I don't think she is at all. She's just skittish and nervous ... and a little bit "slap happy". :D

They sure do. Thanks for the kind words. I think they'll get on fine.
I have little playhouses like that, too. Those things kick butt. ^_^
You can see, in the last photo, her "Back off or I'll slap you!" look.

Her paws look like little fists! She is so cute and that is the funniest story.

In her mind, they are little fists. She is just too hilarious.
I plan to socialize her and hopefully break her of the habit of slapping and biting everything [despite how unbearably funny it is!]. But I promise that before I do, I'll get a video clip of her slapping something.
It will make you roll in your seat.

I named her after the chipmunk in the Donald Duck/Chip and Dale cartoons. Those were the originals where we first ever meet Chip and Dale and Clarice is the chipmunk they both like.
Then Gadget is the girl mouse from the series Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers that they both like. ^_^

Thank you!
Good news. I got up this morning and both of the girls are alive and quite fine [and asleep]. Now that they have established whom each other is, they're happy and content to live together.
I let them both out in their Run-Abouts last night. Poor little things are so small they can barely move them.
After their run they were both really calm. Gadget went to eat and Clarice did a little more exploring. When she got near Gadget, they acted fine with each other.
So I'm happy to say they won't need to be separated and all is well!
And they're getting a bigger home tomorrow so Pop-Tart can have the one they're in now. I can't fit any toys in the Habitrail, so I feel like a criminal giving all my girls tons of cool toys and things to play with and all Pop-Tart has is sand bath. So he's getting moved and I'm going to keep the Habitrail as a hospital/quarantine cage.
I think he'll like his new home and toys. ^_^

Hahaha, is the cutest or what? It's so cute because some of them think that they are the HUGEST things in the world but their so small!! Hahaha, I don't think I could of left her there either! Great save, I don't want to know what they would have done with her if you didn't take her, her being "agressive" and all! She might hurt someone, ya know?? LOL, j/k! Gosh, that's just too funny!! :)

Well, I've actually been pretty unrelenting in another thread toward some very specific people and I've accepted that I'm a horrible person and if there is a Hell, I've got a hot spot reserved for me by now.
I'm not all that nice of a person, to be honest. I'm really only nice to animals.

aw, angel, i absolutely LOVE the last pic! She is such a cutie pie. Do you know how to post any videos? It would be so cute to see a video of the "slapping"!
~Katie
P.S. Angel, if you are referring to me at all in your last post, I am really sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean to at all, and I hope you have no hard feelings towards me! (And I don't think you are a horrible person at all. I actually respect you!)

In regards to hard feelings, a little. But this ... this is just who I am.
Thinking about the meat industry and people who say they are above/better than animals really bothers me. It's not a philosophy I'm fond of and it's something I have to deal with on a daily basis.
I understand that I'm different, but it doesn't make me wrong and that's how I am treated. I'm treated like an insult to society, when I really think I'm the compliment but maybe I'm vain. My father was.
I can't imagine being the way I used to be. Ignorant and foolish, eating those I claimed to love. When I look back on it I feel ashamed and disgusting.

I can never look down on you, call you names, or do anything like that for you being a vegan. I actually highly respect you for it! I think it is awesome, and have actually tried myself to be a vegan before, but have failed. I honestly and truly hope I can be like you, in that way, one day. To me, I do not think you are in insult to society at all! Yes, you are different, but in a good way, and I LOVE that! I want to do the same thing. I'm sorry if you felt I treated you wrong, I hope you can forgive me. I would never treat anyone wrong for that reason. I just want you to know, I really, honestly, truly, DO respect you.

Being a vegan isn't hard like people say it is. You just have to find what you like and apply some willpower.
To help me, I hung stuff up on my walls and covered my binders and everything I had with pictures of factory farming horror. I had brochures and posters everywhere to constantly remind me why I was going vegan.
I remember one specific time during the morning I was still a new vegan and I had the worst craving for eggs. It's was horrible. One day later the craving was gone and I have never craved eggs or meat since because I have a satisfying diet that gives me what I need and what I eat tastes good to me.
Your taste buds do need to go through an adjustment period as well. I used to like very few veggies, and now I eat veggies all the time.
It's hard if you're not willing to apply yourself and dedicate yourself to it. It's not an overnight thing. But you can do it if you really want to.

yeah, i'm probably going to try again soon, but the thing is, i think i have no willpower! But I will try again soon! Thanks for the tips! (posters, etc.) :)

The willpower is in your heart of hearts that shows all of that affection toward the animals that share the Earth with you.
These should help.
Vegan Outreach: Vegan Starter Pack (http://www.veganoutreach.org/starterpack/)
AFA Vegan Starter Pack (http://www.afa-online.org/starterpack.html)
Definitely check out Universal Life: The Inner Religion (http://ww1.universal-life.cc/english/menue_english.html) because this site has a lot of stuff you can order for free, including books on why Christians should be vegans. I think this site will have the most benefit for you.

I ordered a huge amount of posters and buttons and things from Universal Life.
I love my buttons, too. Freaking awesome. They have pictures of different animals on them and they say "Don't Eat Meat And Save A Life".
