Some cats have an extra finger, I think punky may have one with a 6th digit. I may be wrong though. I wouldn't worry about it, but get it checked out at the vet.

Edit: Good luck with the new kitties though!!!! Congrats too!!!

Gosh.. some people should not be able to pass their genes on.. Good luck with the kittens! I hope whoever abandoned them is full of guilt. =)

As for the extra toe.. I wouldn't really know I've never kept cats myself (brother is deadly allergic) but as long as it's not stopping the kitten from going on with it's kittenly business all is well!

I helped my boyfriend introduce a kitten to his older cats. We left the kitten on it's own in my boyfriend's bedroom with the door closed while the older cats got use to her scent. After a day we opened the door and boom instant kitty pals. =)

Cats with extra toes are called Polydactyls. Its normal.. a lot of cats have it. I have one that has 8 on one paw, and 7 on the other :)

my male cat is starting to put up with them but the female isn't ,she's a drama queen.

the kitten with extra toes walks just fine the extas toes dont bother him at all.
the other kitten is very dependant on us and trys to nurse on our hair and shirts and it crys all the time like whene walking away or eatting. how can we get him to calm down.

the best way to introduce the kittens to your other cats is to keep them seperated and do a slow introduction.

Here's website that will give you lots of tips:
http://www.ddfl.org/behavior/catintro.pdf

Any idea how old the kittens are?

I'm guessing they're pretty young since the dependant/nursing behavior is usually only seen in kittens who were seperated from their mother too early. depending on their age, it may be a good idea to supplement their food with a kmr formula for a week or 2 just to make sure they are getting the nutrition they need.

Chances are that the dependant kitten will outgrow his nursing behavior, but if you want to be sure to discourage it, you can use bitter apple spray on the things or clothing he likes to suck on.

The kittens should really have a vet check with a clean bill of health before you allow them around your other pets. If they have fleas, mites, or something infectious, its a whole lot easier (and less expensive) to treat just the kittens rather than all your pets.
All kittens will have roundworms, as well, so the vet will need to give them a worming medication thats safe and effective (over-the-counter worming medications or flea medications are not safe and effective...do not use them)

Anyway, congrats on the new kittens! they are very lucky to have been picked up by you instead of becoming roadkill. Please post some pics when you can!

there eatting soilds just fine and we've been giving them milk.
we've named them ,sace ( not sure how to spell it but i like the name ,it's a diff lang ,it means 6 ) is the one with extra toes, and kribby the one that nurses, which we think he might be calico.
there around 8 weeks old i can tell b/c they dont have those big round foreheads that younger kittens do.

Do you have any pictures of them? I would like to see your possible male calico, I have one myself..though he is a dilute calico, not the normal colored ones.

don't give them cows milk. It should be KMR formula or nothing, although if you think they're 8 weeks they don't need it.

You can see it good on this one, you see a really big toe, and in between that toe and her others are two other little toes.

Katie has two nails that make a perfect circle, and if I don't cut them they dig into her pad...and its very painful. It depends on which way the extra nails go.

When i was working on the alpaca farm there was an alpaca that was polydactyl. it looked bizarre. I also had a friend years ago that had an extra little toe on each foot. God did she have problems finding shoes!
I have never heard of KMR but you can get a couple of milk replacers this way called Lactol which is a general animal milk replacer and another one is Whelpi but that is more aimed at dogs. There is a cat specific milk too but I cannot for the life of me remember its brand name.
