Name says it all folks, I recently got biscuit a wheel and she'd never had one before, (She's only a few months old and I haven't had time to get her one since I got her) and she's just using it for sleeping in and not for running in. Is there any way I can get her to use it? All advice apreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well, all I can say is give it time. You can't really make a hamster use their wheel. You could try getting a run-about ball and putting her in that for an hour a day, or more..and then put her on the wheel and move it for her. She could possibly be using it when you are not watching her, like when you are sleeping..since hamsters are nocturnal.

I thought that Opie wasn't using his wheel, but apparently I heard the wheel squeaking in the middle of the night and I flipped the light switch on, and sure enough, there was Opie, running on his wheel.

So Biscuit might be running on it when you aren't there. Give it time also.

Rocky only uses her wheel for standing on and trying to escape. she stuffs bedding under it until it jams and climbs on top lol i unjam the wheel all the time but she wont use it. she used one when she was a bubba but stopped after she reaslied you could climb on em and escape. it doesnt really bother me as she has a big cage and runs about and spends about 3 hours out running about and making mischief most evenings.

some hammies just dont ever seem to get it. if the cage is big enough you could stick the ball in it on a stand... although when i tried that rocky just filled it with food and bedding lol. stubborn little so and so!
