white discharge?

By now most of you know rocky... nearly 2, silver pearl syrian, was diagnosed with cushings last year.

She's been having whitish discharge around her tail... and coz her fur is quite long it's sort of sticky... and a little unpleasent smelling. i thought at first she was on heat... but this has been going on for close to a fortnight. Her behaviour and weight is steady, as is appetite/drinking and toileting. no swelling or bloating either.

any ideas anyone?

i'll probs call the vet later today... just wondered if anyone has any ideas. i'm suspecting maybe uterine infection :(

There's also freckles around her tail and girl bits lol... i dont know if they are new... or i just havent seen them before as covered by fur usually! (we'll have those checked too! hopefully nothing new or interesting, but could be related to cushings :(... fingers crossed!)

It does indeed sound like an infection. A trip to the vet is in order. Keep us updated!

definately will. am trying to decide now whether its best to wait a few days and take her to the vet who knows her history or just take the first appointment i can.

Any further thouhgts?

I would take her to the vet who knows her. But if she gets worse or you cant get to your regular vet for more than three days, I would go somewhere else. good luck! :)

We're in the vets tomorrow morning. i did call another vet but he only saw the,... he didnt specialise or anything. My usual vet (despite being more expensive) is as mad about small furries as i am. he used to breed them himself and still rescues them :) such a nice guy. only problem is whenever i go in he tries to convince me to re home some of his "projects" lol

Rocky's doing fine... the infection seems to be clearing up itself but i probs get the baytril just in case of relapse. fingers crossed for freckley things just being freckles lol

Yey... Great news...

just got back form the vets and it seems rocky has cystitus the poor darling. and that the freckly spot things are just discolourations and definately not related to the Cushings. Course of Baytril and a few days from now we should be fine again! yey!

so... next question.... anyone ever given hamsters cranberry juice or bi-carbonated soda? Thanks x
