What happened on the first day you got your hamster(s)?
When I got Sparky home, I immediately stuck my hand in the box and was bitten! I was only about 7 when I got him.
When I brought Flopsy and Mopsy home, I knew better and instead of sticking my hand in, I put the box in the cage and let them run out. I can remember them running at the side of the cage, climbing up the bars and then hanging upside down on the roof of their cage. Also I remember taht they didn't know how to use the wheel so instead of running on the inside of it, they ran round the outside and thenm fell off!:D

Haha, the first time I brought Rahja home, he immediatley went to his wheel and began running on it. That lasted for atleast 1/2, then he piled up some CareFresh and went to sleep. When I brought Faline home, she made explored EVERYTHING, and then begged to be let out, so I held her the rest of the night. I got Jessa from the APL, and she was pretty much neglected from everything hamsters love, so as soon as I got her into a appopriate home (i.e., with a wheel and tunnels and toys), she went to check everything out. It was the cutest thing watching her try to figure out what she was supposed to do with the big circular thing in her cage! :D

Well, my older hamsters I don't remember because I was between the age of 3-10 when I had them.

When i first got Sargent Squeak (I was 12 and he was my first pet that I solely took care of).. he was sweet, and let me hold him! He was always such a sweet hamster! He was a long haired golden Syrian. We got him from the SPCA.

Then my family of dwarves. They were fast, and didn't like being held..but never bit me.

Then there were my 4 fosters who passed away this year. Tye, Pyro, Snow, and Arnold Swartzenhamster (Dark eared white Syrians). They were biters, and didn't like to be held much but I still took them out often. They were also old! I got them from a rodent rescue.

And Kirk, the Diabetic Campbells dwarf. He was a sweety! I only had him a few months though before he passed away. I got him from a rodent rescue.

And my current hamsters. Gunther, who I got from a pet store. He doesn't like to be held much and bites sometimes. And Lillian, who I got from a coworker of my moms. She is a sweety!

We got Blaze (ginger/white Syrian) from a family who had stopped loving him because he bit his owner, Sadhbh. One bite and they stopped loving him! eventualy they remembered that we loved rodents and asked us if we'd take him, and we agreed. As soon as we put him in his cage he was off in his wheel...I think the only times he spent out of the wheel after that was being picked up, sleeping and stuffing his pouches with food for the hours of running ahead of him lol.

When we got biscuit and socks (Biscuit - Biscuit coloured Syrian, Socks - Black Syrian with white socks) we were still pretty ignorant about hamsters - Blaze was our first Syrian and we had a dwarf before, which as you know is quite different - and we thought they could live together. Petshub saved their lives there, because it was while asking for general info that I found they couldn't be kept together. So it was all hustle and bustle for hours after we got them trying to find another cage, then cleaning it out, then filling it up...so much so that they both fell fast asleep when we put them into their separate cages = )

hmmm... Lulu was "confiscated" from some idiot students who bought her and didnt love her anymore. so first day was spent bathing and mite spraying lol

Teddy was another rescue... this time from a kid who kept him in a sock drawer! he spent his first day with me rummaging through my pockets looking for treats and being spoilt rotten lol

Meg (real baby baby) spent her first day with me asleep with her feet in the air lol

Hercules spent his exploring and managed to climb up the side of my cocffee table and merrily went around knocking stuff off lol given he was 3 inches long at the time we foudn this pretty impressive hence his name

Rocky... the little madam... spent it jumping up and down against the side of the tank and working out that she could climb on her water bottle and escape lol

Lord Voldemort looked around, made a nest and went to sleep.
