my very first hamster (misery) lived to be 4 or 5 years old. My others didnt live as long. As all the other hams i got were rescues and i didnt know the ages. But i think jasmine is around 1 year now. And my new hammie i will be getting saturday is 5 weeks old. :)

was your first hamster from a pet shop or was it a breeder and how did you manage to keep it for that long?

she came from a friend. My friend was working at a humane society and they had 8 hams. She kept 7 and put misery back there cuz she was evil lol. Well i told her i would take her. So i did. I dunno how she lived so long. She was pure evil....attention everyday. She was just moody.

most of mine were rescued as adults so i dont know. They are / were all syrians btw.

i'd guess Teddy was near four when he left me as i had him for nearly 3 years and he was far from a baby when he got rescued form the sock drawer (i wish i were joking!)

Herc didnt make it to 18 months :(

Meg was about 3

Lulu about 2.5

The rescues i couldnt even guess.

and my baby Rocky is pushing two even with cushings. i guess it's ironic that the hammie i had who lived the longest was a pet shop bought rescue with a HORRIBLE past. odd that... especially given the comment about Misery.

my first hammy only lived for about 2-3 months and she was bought from pets at home in the uk so iv learnt my lesson there, and will never buy another animal from that shop especially as i also have a very very aggressive bunny who looks like we just picked him out the wild!!!!!!
