Hey ya'aaall!
I just joined the family- and I already need some advice! http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif I am hoping to expand my aquatic collection to Oscars soon, so I need all the help I can get. I need experienced Oscar keepers to tell me what they've learned. Like: Do you prefer goldfish or guppies as food? What diet do you feed your Oscars? I have a 38 gallon- how's that?
Any help at all you can give is much appreciated!
Thanks!
Laura

Welcome to petshub Laura,
I used to feed my Oscar with frogs and live prawns. Then i switched to feeding both live bites and dry pellets. Pellets also provide nutritions to Oscar.
38 gallon? I think nothing is consider big for Oscar. The bigger the better. http://petshub.com/ubb/wink.gif
How many Oscars do you intend to keep?

We always fed ours the regular pond pellet type fish food (same as for goldfish/koi). Just don't let them leave any floating on the top, they'll expand and leave nasty stuff in the water (ammonia or something else bad). Only give them what they can eat, and remove the rest. For a little variety, you might wanna throw in some goldfish and other creative foods once in a while. Goldfish are more filling than guppies, but with live fish like that you always run the risk of getting diseases into your tank (ever looked into a feeder goldfish tank???). Perhaps crickets and such would be a good idea.
