I went over to Petco today, no reason really (I didn't even buy anything. I did hold a Chameleon though :)) and I was looking at the fish, and saw Marbled Mollies, and I really like them. Would they be appropriate to house with Finn, in his 10 gallon? I would need 5 or so of them since they are schooling fish right?

Also, I want to get snails for both tanks, but they had different kind of snails there. Can snails be housed in any climate? Coldwater and tropical? Would they be fine for a bettas tank?

I also have updated pictures! I got a few items things for them, I got Finn a new filter, and I got the golds a background for their tank. (Not that they care..lol)

lol, on the golds tank? thats funny, because after I looked at the pictures, i did! The reason I didn't is because I didn't have an air bubbler in there, and when the water from the filter hit the water in the tank it made bubbles..but I put finn's old crappy filter in the golds tank (they have 2 now) its an underwater filter, and you can see in the pictures the bubbles rising up.

Mollies will not do well in a 10 gal tank. These fish grow to 4-5 inches and 10 gal is too small. They are not schooling fish, but would do well as a small group of at least 2 or 3.

If you like the look of mollies, you may want to consider platies or swordtails instead. You won't find any marbled colored ones, but they do come in a wide variety of other colors, stay about 2" so they'd be okay in a 10 gal, and are usually conpatible with bettas.

Snails will generally do well with bettas, but some bettas have been known to pick at them. The most common snail sold as an aquarium pet is the Apple snail. You will usually find them about 1/2"-1" size but they can grow much bigger (think baseball size). They can live in both cold water and tropical environments. They're a good snail because they won't eat plants, won't reproduce out of control, and they control algae.

Don't forget to save the filter media when you switch out Finn's old filter with the new.

Another possibility for tankmates are a small species of corydora, such as pygmy or panda cories. Cories should be kept in groups of 4 or more. I think panda cories are really cute. They stay at about 1.5-2 inches, but the downside is that they're sometimes hard to find and there's a demand for them, so they can be a bit pricey.

I saw panda cories, and I really liked them! I am almost positive they have them at a privately owned pet store I get my dog and cat food from. I don't know how much they are selling them for, but pretty sure they had them the last time I went over there.
