I live with my boyfriend who has social anxiety and panic attacks. He is allergic to wheat, potatoes, rice, yeast, and sugar. We can't eat out of our house, and if he accidently "cheats", he's miserable for days. Until we figured this out BY OURSELVES, he was bedridden, and stayed so for over a year. I have ADD. His grandmother just died, and my father is in the final stages of stomach cancer. We live with problems every day. Everyone here has problems in their lives. Nobody here is cakewalking through their lives.

The point of this post is not to belittle your problems (which I don't even know what they are), but to show you that you aren't alone.

Just look on the bright side, you're still at home while all this is going on. I was trying to take classes and work, and the medicine made me sick, and I could barely afford it as it was! I wish my ADD had been caught earlier, because I had a lot of problems with it, sadly, even though I got really good grades. It would have made life easier, even just to know. :)

Yeah, I was put onto Wellbutrin, and then frequently had my dosage upped because, of course, it wasn't working, it was only making my life miserable. The ironic thing (now) is that I marked on every form when I checked in, a box asking if I wanted to be tested for ADHD. ;p

Hypothyroidism? That is soo easy to treat! My dog has it. You have to take a little pill twice a day, but its all good. I think I might have it too because one sign of it is always being tired, and I'm almost always tired.. It's gotten to the point where I wake up at 8 (my normal time) after 7-8 hours of sleep and I get tired again around 11, go to sleep and wake back up at 2:30. Tessa Sue gets really depressed and itchy if she misses a pill. It can't be eliminated but it can be treated.

Whatever diseases or problems she has in her life, there is no reason to take it out on other people. We were all 13 at some point in time. And let me tell you that when I was 13 I didn't blame everything and anything else but myself for the way I was acting. I think all of us have had A LOT of bad days when they come on here... I've had 3 bad days this week so far...today including. I don't think I've EVER been that rude to ANYONE on here or said completely nasty comments to people intentionally. (correct me if I'm wrong) It's more than just a bad day in her case.

o ya and I remember 2 years ago when i was 13... 7th grade..w/e... for some reason young peoplehave a really hard time dealing w/ stress. I know it's not true for everyone but when I was in middle school it seemed nobody had productive ways of dealing with stress..instead everyone in 6,7, and 8 grade becme nasty, started cutting, or other stupid stuff. (Don't mean to offend anyone..just an observation in my past...i know there are mature middle schoolers but in general...they aren't mature...mentally or w/e)

About the stress handling thing.. I can't handle stress at all. I break down like 5 times daily because people call my name left and right. It gets on my nerves SO badly. Espeacially since my brother got his video games.. Like every 5 minutes he asks me to come read something on the game for him because he can't read well. It's so upsetting when your bothered every five minutes!

Yeah.. Nearly 6 years ago when I was 7 I was so excited about growing up and I couldn't wait.. Now I'm almost 14, which means four years til I'm an adult.. Four years sounds like alot to some, but it is really barely anything. 4 years seemed like alot when I was really really little but now time passes so quickly.. I was reading about how time seems to pass faster when you get older, and people were saying it is because you are old.. And I feel old but I'm not. Things I loved when I was 5 are collectors items.. Just thinking about it is depressing and saddening.. Stressful even.

I longed to be an adult, now I want to be a kid again! :( Being an adult has it perks, you can work and spend YOUR money on what YOU want and you can drive, drink etc. But then again you have bills and your responsible for yourself.

Heck, even from personal experience, the difference in 18 and 23 is a LOT. Stuff doesn't stress me as much, I've had a lot more practice dealing with stress and general crap that life dishes out, yanno?

Your only 23? Why did I think you were older than that, must be your maturity! :p. Well at 18 your coming into adulthood where as when your 23 you've dealt with it. Both my siblings still live at home, their 22 and 25. Houses are so expensive nowdays and my sister is already in debt from going to Uni!

My recently got hit by a co-worker of mine (some of you may remember) and all he could say to me was "Thanks so much for not yelling and flying off the handle!!"

I just looked at him and said "What would yelling do?? Would it fill the hole in my car?? Would it reverse time, so that I can remind you to look in your blind spot and not hit my car?? No, yelling and getting all worked up is worthless."

nah, i didn't mean that it is harder for teens...it's just different. Like a lot of things mean more when you are younger... and as you get older...you learn more about yourself...more about how to handle stress and deal with things.. I feel that everyone matures or w/e at their own pace but for the most part... I think kids just hitting puberty and teens and early adulthood is pretty hard. Adults have A LOT of stress to deal with...a lot more complicated then 7th graders 90 percent of the time in my opinion.

In my middle school experience though...there was SO MUCH more drama and people not knowing how to deal with things. I knew 15 people that cut themselves because they couldn't deal with stress. After a few years...these same people (most that i've talked to) have found different ways of dealing with stress.

I don't know about everyone but cutting yourself is not just stress but depression and low self esteem. It is extremely sad how many teens commit suicide these days. Doctors think that if you pop them a pill everything will go away, theres need to be more help for teenagers!

I personally don't think you automatically become an adult the second you turn 18. Next Friday I am turning 18, and I will pretty much be doing the exact same thing I am doing now. Even when I graduate this up coming June, I will still be living at home, going to school, and have the same responsibilites I have now.

But on the other hand, my best friend..when she turns 18,will be kicked out of her house, and have to fend for herself.

Yeah, some situations make people grow up faster than others sometimes. And some people create those situations for themselves. Just depends. I want to grow up but I don't. It will come in time. Gotta enjoy every age group, though. :)

Becoming an adult is one of those gradual things. I'm not even sure when I became one, it was more a matter of "whoa, when did I start thinking like that? man, I'm an adult now D:". As far as age goes, it just seems like more people expects you to be an adult once you're 18. (Apparently those people had an adult-switch installed. o_O )

LOL I've been an adult for 4 years and I still sleep with my childhood teddy bear. My hubby had him restuffed and everything and it ticked me off. I love cartoons. But I have 2 kids so I use that as my excuse. ;)

Not sure when I started thinking like an adult, but it was years and years ago. I practically raised myself since age 12.

My parents have been calling me an "adult" since i was around 16..I'll legally be an adult in March. But i agree...i don't think i'll ever stop being somewhat like a kid. I still sleep with a night light and a stuffed dog.

I don't watch cartoons and I don't sleep with or even have stuffed animals. I do sleep with my dogs though. And I like sleeping in the dark with quietness.. But Tessa snorts and snores, I love the noises she makes. :heart: :heart: :heart: About a week ago Sally would attack Tessa in her sleep, (Tessa sometimes growls in her sleep and I think that triggered it) but the only way she wouldn't do it was if the TV was on at night. She stopped doing it though so I get to sleep without it on now. Besides, do you know how annoying it is when you wake up at 3 AM and there are paid programs on for awesome 70's and 80's soul/R&B music and you stay up for 2 1/2 hours just to listen to small portions of the songs?!?!!??!?!?!

I havent been here for a while so I have been looking at all the threads, and I wanted to say one thing

I am very sorry you don't like your life. You probably don't think I can relate to you and you are right. I have dealt with greif in the past but it sounds like you have it harder than me. But, my best friend, can definitly relate to you.This girl has OCD.terrets Syndrome (sorry for spelling errors.). She is bipolar, also. She sees and hears things that arent there. (theres a name for it but i cant remember it.) She has athritis and scoliosis in her back. She also has family issues. And believe it or not, she is one of the most loved people at our school. I have no idea how she does it, but she is always in a great mood. She looks past the things wrong with her, and has a great outlook in life. She has dealt with deaths (as we all have). All i am trying to say is, maybe if you had a better outloud on things you would feel a little better.

PLEASE believe me, I am not trying to get the last word in, I just wanted to let you know this. I hope soon you feel better. (I dont want to start another fight so PLEASE don't let that happen.)

My great aunt has that.. It's sad. Even when we'd be in the car she'd look out the window and talk to herself, as if everyone around her weren't there. She was in a place with others who had the same problems and she did great because the workers would make sure she'd take her medication.. But they let her move into her own appartment and now she's the worst she's ever been. Last I heard she hadn't left her place for a month and won't awnser the door or ANYONE. People have been hearing her talk to herself. It is understandable though since my grandma (her mom) died in about July.

My next door neighbor is schitophrenic. When he doesn't take his meds, he can get really nasty with us. He once started yelling at me and saying I dumped my cat boxes in his flower bed...Not only was the trash can so much closer and I would never do that, but he PUTS cat litter in his flower bed lon purpose :rolleyes:...but I just shrugged it off..because I knew he didn't take his meds. When he does, hes nice. Except he hates dogs..which makes us lucky, because he tolerates us having 12 ;). He also has been known to yell and scream at his cats, and the lady on the other side of him's cats.;..people call the cops on him, but I don't understand why..its not his fault.

Thats something I wish more people would understand.. People who have mental problems, "defects" and things like that can't help it. And lots of people stare, how would "the normal people" feel if they were always stared at? You might as well go up to the people and say "oh my gosh you have this problem and I'm gonna stare!".

People that are obese, anorexic,mentally challened, physically challenged..anything that makes them stick out...and its not fair to them to be judged the way they are. I dislike my own body.. People say I'm pretty but why believe them? I think everyone has self-image issues to some degree though.

My brother always stares at people! I HATE IT! We were at Pizza Hut and he was like "LOOK THE LADY THAT GAVE US THE PIZZA HAS A MUCTHAS [sp]".. She can't help it and its not like she really did have one anyway! she was dark skinned and she didn't have more hair on her face than anyone else, it was just darker.

I've had an eating disorder since I was a kid. If my food touches (like veggies touching potatos) it makes me feel sick. My husbands dad used to make fun of it. Not sure exactly when it started or why, but any food that touches on my plate doesn't get eaten (not saying mashed potatos and gravy, or veggies with cheese sauce, but if veggies touch potatos or meat touches veggies, etc). Going to restaurants gets a bit interesting. You can't exaclty say "would you mind asking the cook to place the foods away from each other?" without getting odd looks.

I have a baby belly still. I've had 2 kids. Never quite lost the weight after the second. I adore my baby belly, others have the "why haven't you lost the weight, she's 17 months old now?" attitude.

My personal issue with my body? My right lower leg. It's all scarred from when I was a kid. About the only part of my body that repeatedly scarred. Mostly from misquito bites. I'm allergic to they get huge and then they turn into blisters and then scar (I'll keep the really gross details to myself).

Oh... and I have two voices in my head. One tells me what I should do... the other tells me what I shouldn't do... you tell me which one I listen to most. :laughing:

Yes, this kind of stuff gets on my nerves too. I'm skinny. I'm scrawny. I can't help it. I have a fast matabolism. No matter how much I eat, I never get much bigger. I weigh 92 pounds! And this all gets a bit annoying cause some people think I'm anorexic or belimic (throw up so I stay skinny, no I don't). Once, this one kid I didn't even know came up to me at school and he's like 'You're anorexic. Go eat something.' and he walked away. I was so mad. It gets really annoying.

I never understood why people make fun of or dislike someone else for being different or having mental problems. I come from a family with some mental problems, one of my uncles from my mom's side has bipolar disorder and the other two suffered from depression and my mom's sister also suffers from severe depression. Personally, I tend to ignore other people when im out in public. Depending on where im at and how crowded it is i will sometimes get the feeling people are staring at me and panick, i know no one is really looking but i can't help it, ive been told it's called social anxiety, or something like that.

Yeah, sorta try to ignore everyone in the public too, unless I see my friends.

And yes, I do sometimes get a bit depressed. Sometimes about school, family, etc. If its night and I'm listening to a sad song or watching a sad video/music video, I tend to start weeping a bit, but its weird cause I want to keep watching it. Then I get the frustration tears. If I get really frustrated and I'm alone, I start getting all teary, sometimes also from school, friends, after-school things, etc.

Yeah, pretty much everyone in my family has depression. My brother is Bi polar, and he is a very smart guy...we both get top percentile in test scores, but he is considered by the school "Mentally Retarted" because of how low his grades have gotten in this last school year, and by his psychiatrist, and since he tried to kill himself....So seriously, just because someone is considered mentally challenged, or appears to be..doesn't mean they are dumb.

And my mom's left arm is covered in scars from before she had me and my brother, she was severely depressed and cut herself and tried to kill herself too. And those scars will never go away, but when she wears short sleeves...she gets stared at by people....she gets mad though when I ask little kids and some adults in public what they are staring at. ;)

The only problem I have with myself is my weight, but I really don't even mind that. I am overweight, but people shouldn't judge me because of it. People automatically assume that if you are overweight, you are lazy and sit and eat all day. I don't eat all day, its the foods I chose to eat. I am a sugar junky...and I don't have any portion control..its not that eating is all I do. I am a not lazy at all...I cannot afford to be lazy, taking care of my pets is a full time job! ;).

Same with me. My metabolism is really fast, so i can eat A LOT and not gain at all. Especially where I live, there is a lot of obeisity(sp) so I really look different than most people around here. I weigh 84 pounds. (no sarcasm intended)..I know it seems annoying that people keep accusing you or being anorexic, but think on the bright side, you have to be pretty lucky to be able to eat a lot and not gain much. Some people would LOVE to have a metabolism like that.

I think a lot of people have symptoms of OCD. When I was little I always thought people were watching me. It was freaky. I can't even handle something like that, so there is no way I could handle seeing people that weren't really there.

My uncle is afraid of people kinda.. Not too bad but like when we are at his house sometimes he justs stays away even though he knows us. He doesn't like talking to people he doesn't know. My cousin said he has problems with it. I'm the same way but not as bad I guess. If I'm in the mall and I get seperated from my parents/sister because people get between us I freak out and I HATE calling places because if it is a store then I'll be talking to strangers and sometimes I talk too fast for people to understand and it drives me crazy (not really really I just hate repeating myself). Yeah, I'm weird.

Even people who seem perfect arn't anything near it.
On Real HouseWives Of Orange County one women said "You can have enough money to buy anything in the world but if you don't have friends you might as well have nothing". All rich people have problems because to most money is all that is important and once you get everything you want with it there is nothing else in life to persue {SP} and nothing to look forward to.

The major problem I have with my body is that I get sweaty hands and feet very often. And AI can be feeling somcpletly comfortable and relaxed and my hands and feet are clamy. So...when I get nervous at all, its looks like I just stuck my hand in a pool. It's really embarrasing when I have to shake people's hands and stuff like that. And since my feet get sweaty, my shoes (the ones that you don't wear socks with) get nasty and smelly. :ashamed:


It's really awful. But I'm trying this medicine stuff that I put on my hands and feet before I go to sleep and it seems to help.
