thinking of 2nd pig

Hi all, I think tommorrow i'm getting another gp. had patches 2 wks.shes doing fine, but seems lonely. maybe a boy this time.

So glad that you are getting patches a friend. I think i might just keep my boy alone for the moment and maybe neuter him when he is older, or might just keep him alone since i read from a book that male pigs can be kept alone.

So, you are getting a boy. I think it would be more advisable that you bring patches along when you choose your male pig, just to make sure that both of them gets along fine. Anyway, i think female and male will get along most of the time. http://petshub.com/ubb/tongue.gif

You are in the lucky position to have a girl. PLEASE PLEASE give it another girl. Do you want to breed?? What are you going to do with all the babies? Can you ensure you will find good homes for them? I beg you (almost on my knees) to think it over again. Your pig is so young. She will get along with all other young females, even older ones.

Estelle, unless you neuter or spay them, if not, you will have to worry about rehoming the babies, unless you can keep them all.

Do you know sows can get pregnant at three weeks of age? If you get a boar and put it in with your sow, even if she is a baby, she'll get pregnant. Having babies at such a young age is so hard on a sow, and very dangerous to her. Your best bet is to get another girl. I have six girls and they all adore each other. Finding homes for babies is easy, but as Tammy said before, finding GOOD homes isn't so easy. Please consider another girl http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi all, went out today and was looking at some gp.Didn't get one, something is telling me to wait a little bit longer.I didn't see any i liked, they were too big. I want to get a young one like patches. So right now its only her. Thanks for your info you gave me.
