Horrible, horrible news. There is ONE baby left..and he is dehyrated. I didn't check on the babies for over 24 hours, cause I have had a really busy couple of days, and I checked on them right now and there is one baby alive, and 2 dead babies in the process of being eaten. :(

The baby thats left was dehydrated, and I took him and gave him KMR..and he was VERY, very hungry! Hes now in a small animal carrier, lined with a fleece blaket, inside a bin with a blanket over it for warmth. I am not going to give him back to her, I am going to hand rear him. Luckily I have been successful before. His eyes are opening up, and hes 16 days old now! So I think I have a fair chance at hand rearing him. (I hand reared a baby mouse at younger than that!).

Poor thing! :(. Its one of the black bandeds.

awwww that really sucks mel. I know you will do a good job. I'm really really sorry all the other babies died. Was the mother just not producing any more milk or was she not feeding them? *hugs*

aww im sorry, your poor hams :( you should have a good chance at 16 days with the last one, so good luck :)
do you breed syrians? i dont know anything about breeding animals, and would probably never try it. i think the heartache of losing babies or mothers would be so bad.

I am almost positive she stopped producing milk. Two days ago her milk sacs were large, and now it looks like she never had babies suckling on her. I think its been atleast a day since this baby had any food. She was trying really hard, she just couldn't handle it. Shes such a young girl, this was her first and last litter.

I don't breed any animals, completely into rescue work... This was an accidental litter.

Thanks everyone! Its actually kind of bittersweet. I am glad I don't have any more additions, cause before they were even born I stopped aquiring any new animals whatsoever. But its sad they had to die! I got attached to them. :(

im sorry to hear you lost them all. that has to be heartbreaking. its prob for the best though i bet they were sick b/c of the inbreeding. just know you did your best.
