due to money issues and all. I have decided to rehome a few of my pets. I hate to do this as all my animals are attached to me. But its just best all around. I am only rehoming 1 hamster and thats my long haired gold banded syrian Squiggles! Hes a sweet boy....a little shy and skittish but once he gets to know you he is a loveing little boy. You have to watch out cuz he jumps alot. So I only want someone who knows about syrians and has had them before to own him. I also would like updates on him and pics and such. Because i am gonna miss the little guy. I was hopeing someone here would want him. That way i dont have to give him to my friend who owns a rescue. I would just prefer him to go to a forever home and not a rescue. I live in northeast ohio. So if anyone is interested please please let me know.

i hate to see someone re-homing their pets, but at least you're not dumping them at a shelter. who are you re-homing other than Squiggles? obviously i cant take any, living in the UK, but good luck finding them good homes.
i take it you've been through every single option and you have no choice but to rehome :( it must be horrible saying goodbye because of money issues. how come you're rehoming squiggles though? surely he cant eat that much!

thanks! I'm thinking really hard about all this. And its not just money issues its the fact that this room is full of cages. I like having more time for my pets. And its the room and attention...its alot of things all rolled into one. I love squiggles but hes so shy and i feel someone can give him alot more attention then i can. This breaks my heart but i dunno what else to do.

i guess you rescue a lot of animals? i dont look at shelter websites or i'd be straight there, and i just dont have the room here. im hoping when i move house to rescue a pair of pigs from somewhere locally.

yeah I'm trying to keep the animals that have been rehomed numerous times because i feel worse for them. And I dont want to give them to my friend who owns a rescue. She would take great care of them but I would feel aweful still. She just got 30 plus syrians dumped on her and all genders were together. It stressed her out so much. Plus i would rather all the pets i rehome to go to a forever home and not a rescue....it just feels better.

my mum rehomed my degu a few years ago :(
parents bought my lil bro a pair, but as he's allergic to everything except plastic i took over their care. after a couple of years one died (she had 3 operations as she had teeth growing in her throat), and the other began to pine, wouldn't eat or drink. by this time i was doing A levels and working full time, so mum had her rehomed one night when i was working, as she didnt think i'd have enough time to care for them if she got another. i was so upset. but i know it was for the good of little marylin.
it's sad having to give up the pets we love. right now i've got loads of huge exams for my chemistry degree all term and having to get up real early for labs, so am only getting like 6 hours sleep a night so i can have my hams out for as long as they want. grr i need my 12 hours! but they are so cute, i wouldn't deny them what they want :)

yeah its really sad. I dont want to rehome them but i wanna do whats best for my pets. Thats so sad about the degus....i have never ever had one. But they are really cute lol.

it's all crazy on the guinea pig forums! i have to say it's quite entertaining reading people flame each other, though i dont get involved! dont think bad of me lol!
it's important to do what will be best for the pets, ego should stay out of it.
yes degus are amazing, their little faces look like guinea pigs' and they climb all over you and up your sleeves! when i move out it's going to be like noah's ark (i hope!) with pairs of degus and guinea pigs and dwarf hams lol! all living in my home with me :) lucky my boyfriend's well off and can pay the rent and bills lol! then i get to spoil my pets :)
have another q for you. do you have to feed your snake rodents? im not that fond of reptiles, and i dont think i could ever keep an animal that naturally eats another of my pets. i know it's the circle of life etc, but i would look at the frozen rodent and i think it would be too much like looking at one of my dwarf hams (frozen), and feeding her to a snake :( but then that's me lol, everyone's different!

awww i always thought degus were adorable and very cute.

as for your question...yes....yes i do have to feed my snake rodents. i'm glad shes eating f/t though. Yes its kinda hard but at the same time i just try and remember that its food for her....not trying to be mean but that makes it a little bit easier at least. And i will say this snakes are not for everyone.
