what does everyone use instead of wood shavings?
ive used carefresh before and aslo megazorb..
Can you get coloured carefresh over here like you can America?

We use carefresh, but I've never seen coloured carefresh! We also buy it in bulk from here, as I thought this was a pretty good price:)

i've not found any coloured careresh either. at the moment im using shavings, which my pet store assured me were not pine or cedar, but im a bit concerned right now and considering getting either carefresh or a shredder for undyed,unscented toilet roll!
am concerned because one of my hams has made little quiet clicky chirpy noises 24/7 since i got her, which are coming from her mouth, not chest. but now all 3 of my hams (who dont see each other) have started making these noises, so im going to change beddings in case of allergies.

hmm well i have just ordered some new beddings from pet planet, some paper based and some soft whitewood chips. i prefer using wood as it looks nicer, and a wood smell in my room is my comfort smell, but if we dont like it i'll stick with the paper. i dont really like carefresh that much, it doesnt cover the bottom of the cage well, and my hams love to burrow.

Errrmm... i use shavings! Shavings are perfectly fine to use here in the UK as pretty much all the pine had to be kiln dried anyway as we dont have the nice hot weather normally that is needed to dry the wood or something.

Either way, have used shavings for years and years, best ones i have found are made locally to me but the Pets@Home shavings i found to be ok! A lot more dusty that what I have now but still the second best brand of shavings i have found!

I absolutely hate carefresh and will never use it as its disgusting stuff lol.

Megazorb is the only other bedding i would use :)

really? i was starting to panic when i reallised that none of the sawdust bags had the types of wood written on them! o well, i already orderes my stuff online and will try it out, beats carrying the stuff home when there's no bus back from my pet store lol!

Mmmmmmmm! We have been using carefresh and part woodshavings in the bases of their house, but I have been interesting in Megazorb for a while, so spurred on by this thread, I have just ordered 2 X 85L sacks which cost £17.20(including postage) which I thought was a real bargain!
I'll let you know how my babies like it:)
