cages with tubes for a dwarf?

Well.. he turned out to be a she so will be taken away from his brother full time tonight (i'm doubting the bit of carboard splitting the current cage will last long lol)

I know about avoiding bars (escapees) but wondered what people thought on cages with tubes for chinese dwarves (slightly longer and skinner than normal dwarves for anyone who hasnt met any yet)

AND... as they have seperate cages i was thinking the second cage should be really different to the first and every so often i could swap them over when i clean so they could have nice new house to play in? What everyone think?

well i tried my campbells dwarf in a rotastak when i first got her and she couldnt climb the vertical tubing. i bought loads of extra tubing and made a kind of steps thing, so she only had to climb about 3 inches vertical height, but she still didnt like it. so i gave up lol!
i wouldnt reccomend rotastak, but the crittertrail type tubing (with the ridges in it on the inside) would probably be ok, as they'd have some leverage. but anything with vertical tubing is a no-no. my syrian seems to just squeeze up the tubes lol, but my dwarfs try to scarbble a bit but just cant.
i dont know about swapping the cages round, it might stress them out? but i dont know. hams generally love a new thing to investigate so it might be fun for them!

I have 3 robo's and after a while they will climb the vertical ones. I have a tower that goes high up above the cage, and they didn't go up it for a good week, but after a while they started trying and eventually are now pros at it.

If they just don't like it, then create a circular spiral. I have a section of one and they loved that thing...they always speed up and down it, back and forth :p

hee hee... i got a spekos one or something,... it's made by savic... the tubing is all flat lol. And best of all coz it was the dumb pet store who sexed them wrong they gave me a mnassive discount on hte cage and threw in free bedding! RESULT! Now all i have to do is work out who gets it lol
