I got a hamster yesterday, he's a long haired syrian, golden banded, I think. His old owners were moving across the country, and thats a long trip for such a little critter, so they rehomed him. He is such a sweetie. I forgot to ask how old he is, I'll email them about it just so I know. He is completely tame, he lets me hold him on his back and kiss his belly, without struggling or anything. He's in a crittertrail 3, which I think would be a decent cage for a couple of dwarfs, but theres just not enough room for him and all of his stuff, so I will be building a bin cage sometime in the next week or so, once I make room for something bigger. Today I bought him a new food dish, because he didn't have one, a dust bath (parrot food dish, but its the right size for him, and almost the same shape as the dust bath's designed for smaller hamsters), a cave type thing for him to sleep in, and a hamster ball, so I can let him roam the house without getting lost. He already came with a wheel and water bottle and everything. I'm feeding him a mix of his old food, and the Suebee's diet. Am I missing anything?
Anyways, he needs a name! Any ideas?

He definately isnt a Golden :)

He is a Black Eyed Cream... He is also Long Haired (although his fur isnt that long which makes me wonder if he is actually female?) I cant see any white so I cant say if he is banded or not... but he looks shiney which makes me think he is a Satin too!

so...errrr.... Satin Long Haired (Banded?) Black Eyed Cream!

he does look a little pale to be a golden, but maybe that's coz mine looks ginger in comparison lol! he looks lovely though!
i would watch him when running in his wheel, that he does not have to arch his back in it, as this can cause problems.
he looks so cute :)

he probably is a cream, then. My internet connection is really bad, so the only sites I could access with colors only listed three or four colors. He is pretty light, i was thinking he was too light to be golden. He has a white belly, and a white stripe around his back, although its not very well defined. The reason why his hair looks short is because his last mommy gave him haircuts, because its been really hot lately. He is most definitely a male, he's got balls, lol. He is a bit shiny, but I'm not sure if he's satin or not. his coat isn't anywhere near being as shiny as my satin mouse, but hamsters are different, so I really can't say...
The wheel he has now is fine for him for now. I need to get him a new one anyways when I make the bin cage, as this wheel clips onto the side of the cage, and I will need a free-standing one.
He's running around in his ball right now, he's so cute and curious. I had him loose on my desk, but he kept wanting to jump down, so I put him in his ball so he could run around for a few minutes. He seems to really love it!

I'll try to take more soon. I have problems with my internet connection, so uploading pics is a nightmare, but I'll try!

Aww, really cute ham. Sorry, not too good with names. But if it was a girl, I think I would name her Georgia, because she is peach colored and the state Georgia is known for peaches. I guess you could name a boy Georgia, but I like it as a girl's name better... you could always name him George! haha.
