Our African pygmy hedgehog, Fred, is getting less and less attention these days since we have a new dog. Fred is friendly and healthy and needs a loving home. We will give Fred, his cage and wheel to a sincere new owner. We are in Maryland.

I would love to give Fred a home as we are looking to adopt a hedgie. However, we are in CT and unless you can drive him up here I don't know how else transportation could be arranged safely.

How old is your hedgehog? I live in VA and I would love to take him but I have two children to think about. I would prefer a young one so that he would be with us a little longer.

Hello My name is Coty May. I'm currently going to a school called TCTC (Trumbull Carrer and Tech. Center). I'm in the Animal Management Program (we deal with all kinds of small animals and learn how to take care of them). We have a hedgehog now but it has Cancer and we don't think she will live through the summer. We are 11th and 12th grade sutdents. We are looking for someone to donate a hedgehog to us. If you could be so kind to donate yours to us. It would be the best. We will show lots of love and care for it. Please e-mail me if you decied to donate your wounderful hedgehog to our class. I can give you more info if you want it. Please e-mail me at Lilly77177@aol.com (sorry my moms name)(LOL)

Thanks for your time,
Coty May from Ohio.

Have you considered rescue for your hedgehog? You are in luck as there is a great rescue in your state (Homeward Bound Hedgehogs). Sometimes rescues can either help with placement into preapproved homes, or even take in the hedgehog as a permanent resident.

Hedgehog rescues are not like shelter rescues, these are run out of people's homes and the hedgehogs become part of their families. You can find the above mentioned rescue's contact information at the IHA's web site at http://hedgehogclub.com/rescue/rescues.html

Let me know if you need help contacting her.
