Is it normal for green masked lovebirds to be soooooooooooooooooooo loud and noisy? They have a variety of sounds ,some soft and cute ......but mostly loud and piercing!!!I never realized that these cute little birds could be so noisy !The only time they are quiet is when they are sleeping!!!I love the little guys...but is this the norm for them??I have 2 of them and one is a lot more aggressive than the other, and seems to be "the top dog" so to speak.....I wonder if maybe I have a male and female? would this be why they are so vocal?

Birds are very noisy and lovebirds have a very high pitch call which is louder than a budgies.

Yes they are loud little buggers... We live in a unit and because of that reason and the fact they were laying eggs we had to give them to a friend who had an avery..

They used to wake us up each morning and the poor cockatiels never made a peep because otherwise they would be told to shut up from the love birds..

...lovebirds are just loud birds to begin with and when you pair them together, well, you get twice the noise...

...one question stands out in my mind though...I wonder if this may be a human induced behavioral issue as well...how long have you had the birds? Did you get them at the same time? When you first got them, did you spend a lot of time with them? Has one bird inadvertantly gotten more attention than the other?
Birds require consistant attention...and any change in that can really screw with their psyche...for example, we'll say a grey cheek parrolet, was bought as a young bird, hand raised...the bird is brought home and showered with attention...people talk to him, get him out all the time, and are always interested in what he's doing...for awhile...then, as the bird gets older and becomes more established in the house the initial novelty wears off and he begins receiving less and less attention...so he starts to scream...and he screams....then he gets yelled at and told to hush!...hmm, they're talking to me again he thinks to himself, I'm gonna scream some more...and so he does...because to him even negative attention is better than nothing...and screaming is only the beginning...next comes biting and being bitten by a hookbill meant to bust open nuts is NOT fun...

...but then again I may be totally off base...which brings me back to the fact that birds, especially birds in pairs---->>up to aviaries are just plain loud...it's just their nature...

We brought them as a pair at the same time at the same place.

They never got more attention then the others & we showed them enough attention throughout the time we had them but if we showed them too much they would make loud screeching noises which living in a unit we tried to not make them do. (we did not know at the time of getting them that they would be as loud as they were).

We had them for about 2 yrs i think and they had the same attention from us as what our 2 cockatiels had, but i agree especially about these birds, they are naturally very noisy birds..
