So my dad's fish tank has been off the hook and he said he wanted some snails in it. I know, Apple Snails eat plants. I told him that and he still wants em, so I went out and bought two for my tank. He said to give him atleast 40-50 babies so he can start off a nice population in his tank (he has loaches, they'll eat any babies that are in the open).

So my question is, how fast will they reproduce? How old do they have to be? Mine are still small, but they seem like there old enough to have babies...

Thanks~

This may not answer all of your questions, but it should help some.

If you want something that breeds fast then you'd want to go with pond snails. They do become a huge pest if you overfeed. I have a little pond snail problem myself and I don't even over feed. I haven't had any problems with them eating plants, but the smaller snails have broken a few filters by getting caught inside.

Eek, see that's why I went with Apple Snails because they are a good size to not get stuck in filters or anything..

Thank you for that Cotton. :]
