I was told by the pet store that the Orange Cheeked Waxbil Finch can not be kept with other finches/birds because they are aggressive.

I just wanted to confirm this?

I currently have 2 flight cages.. 1 holding a pair of orange cheeked waxbills and the other holding 6 other finches and 1 canary.

I would love to move the canary in with the waxbills [if it is safe to do so] to allow more space for him, and the other finches. I mean, the waxbills have a huge cage to themselves so it looks really out of place next to the other flight cage holding 7 birds.

Here's a few sites with some info that might be useful. One thing I learned with petkeeping is not to listen to everything everyone says. If you listen to everything anyone has ever told you, you wouldn't keep pets because it's "simply too difficult". Info I tell you might be true to me, but not true to someone else who had a different experience with the same animal. For example; I might tell you rats don't bite, and someone else might tell you every rat they've ever been in contact with has bitten them.
Just my two cents.

Now for the sites:

**Insert from first paragraph:
"They usually prove compatible with other waxbills of similar size, rarely acting in a aggressive manner when kept in a community aviary. It is better to avoid boisterious companions, which may interfere with the bird's nesting activities."

There doesn't seem to be much bad info online. Perhaps you can run a trial with the canary and see how it works out for you. Hope this helps.
