1. Is it ok to give my hamster a dandilion leaf? I read on a website that it was ok to feed them those, and i was wondering if that was true or not? Would it harm my hamster in any way?

2. I bought a girl hamster about 2 weeks ago, and when i went to go pick one out, I picked the smallest one, because she was just put out there, and was very very young. I was just wondering, is it ok if i buy another hamster for her to have company with? I dont really want her to be all alone and such.

3. I have a dog, but she stays downstairs and never goes upstairs. But when i brought my hamster home, she was eager to meet it. Is it ok if i put my hamster in a ball and let them be introduced to each other?

no-ones replied yet? wow, this forum is a bit dead!
dandelion leaves in small quantities are fine, so long as they have not been treated with any pesticides or weedkillers.
i really wouldnt want to introduce a dog to a hamster. they might seem ok, but it's likely a hamster would be frightened out of her life!

you havent mentioned what kind of hamster you have. dwarfs can do well in pairs, but a syrian hamster must always be kept alone.
if she's a dwarf, a friend may be possible. however, there are a few things to consider-
- you will have to introduce them carefully, as even if they are sisters, they will have forgotten each other in 2 weeks. other people will be able to advise on this better.
- females are the more territorial of the species - they may get on well for weeks, or months, but you could then come home to find 2 injured hamsters. it is always a risk with keeping any 2 animals together, and the relationship depends on the hamster.
- 2 hamsters in 1 cage need separate space, for when they want to be away from each other. you will need 2 houses/hideaways, 2 wheels, and plenty of room for them to run around in.
- modular cages are not a good idea for pairs or groups of hamsters - it is best to stick with one large open plan cage, like a bin cage or such-like, lest the hamsters set up separate territories.

dwarf hamsters can live by themselves fine. if you play with her daily, it is unlikely she will be lonely.

good luck with her!

Wow, what happened to this place? Does anybody come on ne more?!

Alright, anyways, 1.) dandelion leaves are okay in small quantities like Pink said, just make sure it hasn't been treated with any chemicals or anything.

2.) lf you have a dwarf hamster, then it would be okay to TRY to introduce another hammie as long as your hamster is under 2 months old as well as the other hamster, but it's a bit risky to introduce to older hamsters, so l would advise against that.

lf you have a syrian (teddy bear, black bear, ect.), then they CANNOT live together, as soon as they reach adulthood (about 4 months old) they will turn on each other and probably kill one another, even if they are related.

3.)Be very careful when introducing your dog to your hamster. Rememer- your dog is much bigger than the hamster. Make sure the dog knows he/she isn't a chew toy. l would make sure the dog is in a sitting position with either someone holding him on a leash or by his collar, then carefully introduce them.

By no means does this mean that they can play together though, it just wouldn't be safe.

Good luck with your new hammie! :)
